Disgustingly filthy dirty. A Health risk. No cleaning products-disinfectants & what little dishwash liquid was available was watered down. No cloths for cleaning. Tea towels disgusting as had to use them as cloth to wipe benches before you cd even make a cup coffee let alone breakfast or any meal. Dishes & pans GROSS left ea day not washed or... More

Well we should have known it wouldn't be too flash after choosing the cheapest accommodation option, but I have to say this backpackers is one of the most run down old buildings that I've ever seen! BUT in saying that, we had a great stay. The atmosphere is good with a laid back vibe and free BBQ on Saturdays, the... More

Stayed for a week and didn't want to leave! So close to the beach, staff are fantastic and so helpful and friendly. Very laid back and cruisy. Owner is upgrading the place, it has a beach house vibe Made some amazing friends, definitely want to come back! Hover bro!

We were extremely disappointed on arrival at the state of the house. First impressions were not good, the garden is a mess and the inside of the house is not much better. Staff were not that helpful and the only good thing was how close it was to the beach. Wifi is available but you have to pay, which is... More

Stayed here five days in summer time. Everyone and everything is very laid back and easy going, sometimes a bit too much. Needs an upgrade when it comes to, well, pretty much everything. All the rooms are basic, kitchen is basic, bathrooms are basic. You just get what you pay for really. They do offer farm work, but you have... More

Awful, awful, awful experience. Rude staff. Dirty and Smelly rooms (bed sheets had dirt/sand on them). The whole house is completely run down. Bathroom/Toilet right next to the kitchen. Arrived at the backpackers and found that the room we were allocated absolutely stunk. It was uninhabitable, unfortunately this was at 11pm at night and we had no way of going... More

The hostel is very run down. It needs a major uplift. Maybe they can exchange a paint job or something for accommodation for any working travellers. So that's my 1 out of 5. Two 5/5s--the atmosphere and the location. The atmosphere I think was more because of the residents there than anything, but still good. Everyone was really friendly, I'm... More

The Cottontree website, and our guidebook had promised us a 'relaxed hostel' with free bike, boogie board and surf board hire. Well, relaxed is one way of putting it. The living room is cramped, and the springs in the sofas must have broken long ago. Admittedly, they have a tv and hard-drive with films on, but incessant re-reuns of Modern... More

While the reception staff were friendly this property is really just a big boarding house for young overseas and Australian people living and working in Maroochydore and surrounds. I stayed in an 8-bed dorm and it contained at least one hutch with personal items all over it, indicating that at least one person in the room lived there permanently. I... More
