We stayed at Jabiru for 4 nights in November 2015. Weather was great - lots of sun, just an hour's worth of rain one morning. They refer to this area as the wetlands - but other an the lovely lagoons, it was pretty much dry as a bone during our stay. The lodge has great views over one of the... More

We spent 2 nights at Jabiru Safari Lodge and it was the highlight of our trip. We have been visiting the region for the last 9 years but this was our first visit to the wetlands. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Margaret and shown to our 'room'. We stayed in one of the powered tents and were pleasantly... More

My wife and I recently enjoyed 2 days in the Mareeba Wetlands at Jabiru Safari Lodge and are already talking about returning after the next wet season ... just to see how the wetlands are transformed. Our hosts, Margaret and Greg couldn't be better advertisements for this magnificent country as they are both locals with an obvious love of this... More

I have been looking for a way to include Jabiru Safari Lodge into our Cape York Tour Itinerary for a number of years. The opportunity came up this year with a private charter wanting to do a personalised itinerary. What an amazing place and the service provided by Greg, Margaret and Linda is outstanding. From lunch on the deck on... More

First things first, this isn’t a big, swanky 5* hotel. It’s better than that! We arrived to a warm welcome from owners Greg & Margaret, shown to our deluxe tent, and were then offered a cruise around the lake, with our guide (Paul) pointing out all the birds of interest. There is the possibility to hire a kayak to paddle... More

Have just arrived back from Jabiru Safari lodge and want to go back. The hospitality given by Margi and Greg was second to none. Was great to see all the wild life and to go on the safari around the wetlands. Would recomend a minimum of two nights however to do more would be great.

Take it from a seasoned traveller that this is a very special place. Greg and Margaret are lovely, warm people and experienced farmers who have taken over running the small safari lodge which is part of a protected wildlife area. Everything here is nicely done - from the warm welcome when you arrive, to the excellent home-style cooking and the... More

From the friendly warm welcome to the last good bye this charming place was the best lodge experience we had in F/N Qld. Comfortable delux lodge accommodation slightly away from water on a raised platform but with water glimpses. Self catered one Bbq dinner, had second evening of sundowners with hosts Greg and Margaret then a lovely dinner of various fresh... More

Jabiru is situated on the edge of a nature reserve, and the main lodge has a spacious deck with great views over the bird-rich lagoon in front and the mountains behind (spectacular sunsets!). Accommodation is in one of 5 en-suite safari tents or one large family/group cabin. There is a small outdoor hot-tub. Our tent was quite comfortable, with a... More
