Jabiru is situated on the edge of a nature reserve, and the main lodge has a spacious deck with great views over the bird-rich lagoon in front and the mountains behind (spectacular sunsets!). Accommodation is in one of 5 en-suite safari tents or one large family/group cabin. There is a small outdoor hot-tub. Our tent was quite comfortable, with a... More

We spent three nights at this beautiful small scall lodge in the middle of the wetlands. The lodge is beautifully situated at a lake full of birds. Great views, beautiful sunsets. The lodge is ran by Margaret and Greg, a marvelous couple with true passion for their, lodge, the guests and the beautiful nature surrounding them. Nice safaris in the... More

This is a lovely wetlands location which is easy 80 minute drive from Cairns. Meals are served in the central lodge area which has great views over the wetland with its prolific birdlife. We stayed for 2 nights in the DeLuxe tent cabins which are recommended, having electricity, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities etc. plus their own toilet and shower facilities.... More

First stop on birding circular from Cairns. Very easy drive. Graded road from main road to Wetlands but hire car was absolutely fine. Stayed overnight in a deluxe tent which was a great luxury after my normal backpacking experience in a YHA dorm. Was great being able to sit on veranda with bird book open while they flitted around the... More

We were delighted to have Greg drive us around and provide a cattle-man's view of the wetlands and the surrounding area. This was a wonderful experience and exceeded our expectations of informality and feeling like we were sharing with the family rather than guests at a upmarket resort. Linda and Margaret (and the other staff) fed us well and we... More

We have just spent 5 weeks travelling round Australia and this was one of the best places we stayed at. The hosts Margaret and Greg were definitely the friendliest and most helpful. This is a gem of a location off the beaten track but well worth the visit. It is a bit expensive but the visit got off to a... More

Very nice safari camp where you can see lots of birds, as well as kangaroos. We had the all inclusive deal, which was very good. Great dinners and a good breakfast. Friendly hosts and a stunning view from the reception center/ dinning room. Nice walks trough the premises. The safari Twents are basic, but comfortable. It was worthwhile the visit!!!

We stayed two nights in the DeLuxe cabin. The cabin is comfortable with three beds, a fridge and 220V. Toilet and shower are simple but clean. In front of the cabin is a small veranda. The path to the main building is lit at night and a torch is provided. You will hear a lot of birds and other animals... More
