We were at the lodge for two nights. After coming through a quite hectic town, Mareeba, you just do not expect so much tranquility. We had two nice tours with Greg, used the canoo several times and made a fantastic walk. The most important thing to mention is the almost unlimited attention one gets from both the owners as wel... We've been on holiday in FNQ for a couple of weeks mainly birding, and for some unknown reason no one pushed us to visit the Mareeba Wetlands. We were heading out that way so thought we'd stick our heads in quickly to see what it was like and we ended up staying the whole day. We had 5 new species... More

We stayed two nights in July 2014 at the Jabiru Safari Lodge, in one of the few Luxury, tented safari cabins and were absolutely excited. Having been to the Whitsunday Islands, we were looking for a luxury, but reasonably priced outback accommodation and opportunities to see wildlife and take part in excursions. We found exactly what we were looking for.... More

If you're in the Cairns area it's worth visiting this place that's in the Mareeba wetlands, about 45 minutes west of Cairns. If you like wildlife, especially birds, it's a must. The boat trip around one of the wetland lakes at sunset is a excellent and the safari by 4 wheel drive really shows off the area. Greg and Marg... More

This place was a late find for us on our holiday but was a perfect interlude to a mostly beach holiday. We arrived late to complimentary drinks and cheese on the deck overlooking the wetlands and then stayed for a fantastic buffet dinner (book in advance). We stayed in an Eco tent, which was spacious with an amazing bathroom. We... More

We stayed for only one night in the eco tent. It was a great, fun experience for those who want a taste of glamping. Either bring your own food or book for dinner in advance as Jabiru is quite remote. We did neither, but the owners were very accommodating and still managed to provide us with a lovely dinner. My husband and I stayed at Jabiru Safari Lodge, in a deluxe cabin, for three nights and absolutely loved it. Owners/hosts Greg, Marge and Linda could not have welcomed us more warmly – champagne sunsets at the lodge overlooking the lagoon, fun and informative jeep tours with Greg around the vast property and even to their own home for wildlife... This is one of the best memories I have from our Australian holiday in 2013. This place is the best you can get if you're looking for a real wilderness experience! The lodge is on the bordar of a lake in the middle of nowhere. You can sleep in the lodge or, as we did, just go for a daily... More

Great hosts, good food, accom was exactly what we hoped for. A beautiful nature reserve with Heaps of wildlife, great bush walks and a super relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended. The emus are friendly and freely wander around adding to the experience. Kangaroos are everywhere and the bird life is abundant.

Marg & Greg opened their amazing Jabiru Safari lodge especially for us as they are usually closed for the wet season. How grateful we were & it didn't rain at all during our stay!! The lodge overlooks mountains & the lake & sunset drinks, canapés & evening meal taken on its decking was a very special experience. The de lux... More
