We were unfortunate to stay here on a Friday night. There’s a pub downstairs and apparently Friday is party night. Obvious to say you won’t get much sleep in this hotel. Very loud music that can even be heard while wearing earplugs and trying to sleep. Helen, the manager who’s responding to all the negative reviews below, promised on 10th... More

My staff are amazed, when you booked in on Friday you already knew everything about the hotel, you stayed Friday night, had breakfast Saturday morning, stayed all day Saturday, Saturday night, had breakfast on Sunday morning and then left after breakfast. We have staff on duty 24/7 and you couldn't find 30 seconds to speak to any of the staff... More

We stayed here as it's famous for the Slim Dusty song. What a disappointment, the room had new bedding which made it look smart, the bathroom was still in its original condition, the bathroom floor was wet from something leaking and the tap dripped. The hotel offered complimentary cooked breakfast which you redeem at the cafe across the road, we... More

Our family business employs local people and supports the local community so we wonder why, rather than tell us your concerns so that we can fix them, you decided to do as much damage to us as you could with your trip advisor comment .During the last three years over 21, 000 people have stayed with us and enjoyed our... Staff are polite, but stops there! Beds were clean but room wasnt, really disappointed in our meals, everything burnt or dry. Would have appreciated a room back from main street as it was too loud and too bright. Wouldn't stay again.

The weekend that you stayed, there were 21 other families that also stayed with us. They all seemed very happy with us and their stay, in fact at least a dozen of them went out of their way to let the staff and management know what a good time they had. Almost all of them thanked us for the free... More

It's always a pleasant surprise to return to a place and enjoy it even more the second time round! Lees Hotel is one of those such places and is by far, one of the best hotels between Townsville and Cairns. The bar and restaurant were buzzing on the Friday night we were there, yet service was impeccable. The food we... More

After all the hype about recently renovations etc of the hotel, we choose to stay at this hotel. Sure the room had a minor make over but the bathroom was still a'la 1970s. There were no closet, only a rack in the corner stuck to the wall where you had to duck down below to get around the bed, a... More

Thank you for your frank comments, as a result of your review we have now taken steps to improve and monitor our sound level detection systems, so that our guests are not disturbed by a undue noise on a Friday night. Friday was the only night of the week that we ever had a band or entertainment and the new... More

My husband and I arrived at the hotel late afternoon and checked in with a particularly disinterested looking receptionist who laughed when I asked if there was a lift. She did not offer to help us carry up our suitcases. We specifically asked what time the restaurant was open until and were told 8p.m. This is a pub/hotel which loudly... More

Earlier this year we received the Readers Choice for accommodation from the Australian Good Food Guide, just recently the Channel 9 news team stayed with us, and apparently enjoyed themselves ,and last Tuesday we featured on Channel 7 News for the iconic history and preservation of it. Major tourism groups and companies stay with us, and we have recently featured... More

This historic place has been modernised to make the most of its unusual layout. We opted for a quiet room, so were overlooking a central area with no view, but the room was well laid out to maximise space, was attractively and freshly decorated and had a very comfortable queen bed and good free a/c. We were warned to order... More

Thank you for your review, in regards to the fire exit, the door is only locked from the outside and by pushing the handle down from the inside the door opens outward and you can leave the building. As luck would have it the security lights on the 1 acre of car park were on maintenance and not operating that... More

Historic building, beautifully restored. The room was very small, but clean and comfortable. We were right above the bar, but the noise was not excessive. The air conditioner worked well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the bar was good and reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the area - we... More

We stayed on a Sunday in January 2014. The place was dead. We were met by a doom and gloom staff member who doubled as the barmaid. The room was tiny and the bathroom badly needed modernising. The bathroom was 1metre X 4 so to get from the window to the shower I had to close the door! The room... More

We are really really sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations, in 2012 we received the Finalists Award for unique accommodation in North Queensland. Over 12,000 people have stayed with us over the last 2 years and only 7 of them have written to voice concerns. We take this very seriously and have had a management meeting to... More
