The location is great! Just a 5 min walk to horseshoe bay which has a nice beach a shops! The rooms are basic but cleaned daily, comfy beds for a good nights sleep! The bar is good at night they have something different most nights. Good pool with hammocks great for the wildlife and koala park! Best to rent a... More

In a great location next to the sanctuary and a five minute walk to the beach, however the bungalows are very basic and uncomfortable. The onsite bar is pretty decent and they have something happening every night, it's also great to see the local wildlife come out on a night.

This hostel is located in the middle of a koala village. The tour included with the rooms is good and fun. You can hold all the animals and take pictures with the koala's and snakes. There is also enough to do on the island itself. For excample koala spotting. They tell you to do some snorkling at the reef, but... More

This place is such a cute a little village and a fabulous place to stay when you are visting magnetic island. the island itself is gorgeous and we wished we could have stayed here longer. The bungalows for eight beds are cute and all with an ensuite bathroom. There is a really nice bar and chill out lounge with wonderfully... More

Not the party hub of base but has its own chilled out charm. The hostel feels more like a resort and has a nice pool and has a huge area of land where wallaby, possum, kookaburra and bats among others could be seen just on the walk to the separate kitchen block. Staff are friendly, cabins are well air conditioned... More

The perfect day in Aus. Take the Sealink ferry from Townsville to Magnetic Island (frequent ferries, 20 min ride, just over $30 return trip). Take the easy bus from island terminal (Nelly Bay) to Bungalow Bay (4 min walk to Horseshoe Bay). Sign up for their animal experience. Hold a koala, a baby crocodile, a python and a black cockatoo... This place has the potential to be amazing but it isn't close to reaching that mark yet. The koala sanctuary tour was awesome and the lorikeet feeding was really cool. Aside from that the hostel is very dull and has no atmosphere. The staff didn't seem to make an effort to connect with guests and there was no environment for... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in a private double room and to be honest we were expecting it to be much better. Things didn't get off to the best of starts as there was a sign up saying that the camp kitchen was closed for maintenance for a couple of days so we would have to use the temporary... More

We had a great time at Bungalow Bay. Stayed in a hut which was fine. Facilities in the hut look a bit worn but meet our needs and we slept well. The hut has a fridge, air-con. Showers were more than adequate and just across the way from our hut. The hut has a veranda and it was great to... More

We stayed here for 3 nights to chill out, and it's definitely a great place to do just that. The ferry to the island is simple, and there was a bus waiting for us on the other side. The hostel is great in terms of nature/wildlife. Loads of trees, some open areas, and bushes around, plus heaps of birds, wallabies... More
