A good hostel in a great little spot of magnetic island. In an 8bed dorm which was clean and tidy, as was the rest of the hostel. Hostel has a little bar in it which was good. Wouldn't say it was great value for money and the only thing that let it down was the staff weren't that helpful and... More

I really enjoyed my stay at Bungalow Bay, but the bedrooms were dirty and the bunk beds were rusty. They left a broom in the corner of the room so I ended up sweeping the room both days I was there after the cleaner had left. The bathroom was pretty filthy with insects everywhere. The koala village was really lovely... More

Have now done the breakfast here 4 times, on each of our visits to Maggie. The food hasn't changed at all! I need to know what that bush jam stuff is and where I can get some to eat by the spoonful. The ranger is... interesting. Each time we go, is a different experience so that's why we continue to... More

We had the most wonderful time here. It is probably the best hostel I have ever stayed in. We rented a double room: wooden A frame, with shared bathroom facilities. The room was clean and there was enough room to put our luggage inside and still move around; outside there was a furnished deck to sit and relax on. One... More

We stayed at Bungalow Bay in a private double room for three nights. It's very easy to get to from the ferry, the public bus drops you right at the door. There is a good bar area and drinks are reasonably priced. The kitchen area is good but got quite busy at times. The bathrooms were okay, typical campground facilities.... More

After a hectic few days in Cairns, myself and 4 other friends chose Magnetic island as our relaxing get away, after hearing many positive things about Bungalow Bay, not only the hostel but the tours they have there too, we decided to retreat here. To say the least we were ecstatic when we arrived, the grounds are absolutely beautiful, a... More

The bungalow setting is a nice variation on the bigger backpackers. The adjacent koala sanctuary is nice and feeding the lorikeets is great fun. The fact that it has a little restaurant and a bar on site makes you feel like you are in a hotel. The beanbags on the deck were great for meeting people. The only negative I... More

Had a cabin for 2 ppl $95 pn was dirty had mouse droppings in shower and wash basin. Floor not cleaned and bed had SOMEONE ELSES hair in it. Management terrible didn't like criticism and had no time to help with our issue. Would not recommend! Better accommodation for same money on the island. Also no refund given after only... More

The Hostel is very good. The Bungalows are big enough, and quite comfortable. It's a bit nosy, because there is no glass in the windows, so that you can hear the wild animals the whole night. The kitchen is big and clean. Negative was the Koala Sanctuary Tour. It's like a fotoshooting for 30 people over 2hrs and you can... More

Unfortunately their campsites are positioned on sloping terrain. However not really any other options on the island for camping. Staff were friendly enough. Highlight was the wildlife visiting at night.
