Nestled in the heart of Emerald, the Western Gateway Motel offers the best breakfast in town. It's modern restaurant has fantastic coffee and a simple, well rounded menu. The food was perfectly balanced and presentation was exception for the Centeral Queensland region. Prices were reasonable and the portions were generous but not overwhelming. Service was excellent especially that from our... More

Travelling through Emerald we firstly found this place very confusing. The owners have two properties in emerald and both have very similar names. Western gateway and western gateway retro.. talk about confusing for a small town.. you guys arent the sheraton or a big hotel in a major capital city and all you have done is confuse people. Change the... More

I was disappointed that the trip was confusing and unorganised.I thought the service for the short stay was equal to the Sheraton. I would appreciate if you could email the room you were allotted the maintenance needed so I can attend to that please. This was the enactment of the train ride from Winton to Brisbane of Anzacs joining the... More

We had a over night stay on our way back to the NT. We have stayed here many times on our travels. The bathroom is modern and nice although the water from the shower comes out on the floor. But nothing a towel can't fix. Husband had to sleep in single bed cause I had a bad back and needed... More

We stayed in a family room. It was spacious and clean but we were not offered milk or the wifi code. The reception area was not manned and we had to ring through. The room is very modern, clean, had a bath and a shower and was very nice ( although not that cheap)

Stayed in Emerald for business you get your room nothing fancy obviously being a Motel in Emerald the rooms and clean and bathrooms not too bad either. The restaurant is 'okay' I think they're trying to make it something which it's not with very strict dress codes and very expensive menu items. The only highlight for the stay was the... More

If you're fussy about how your steak is cooked then the Western Gateway take the worry out of that. Beautiful cuts of meat are simply seared and served on a hot volcanic stone that you can finish cooking just the way you like it. All served with a choice of salad, steamed veges, chips and a variety of sauces so... More

My wife and I were travelling across Australia as part of our honeymoon and I have never received such horrendous service and accommodation before. Not only was the restaurant over priced and understaffed, but the food was terrible and the taste made us feel nauseous. There are many hotels within Emerald that have friendlier staff and cheaper prices. This stay... More

It was during the Australia Day 2013 Queensland & NSW floods. We were travelling from Townsville when the Bruce HWY was cut by flood waters. So we had to drive back to the north and out to the west to get around. We found the staff very receptive to our needs and gave us an upgrade room with an hour’s... More

What should have been a simple business trip turned into a nightmare so bad I spent part of the night finding an alternate - and was glad I did. Staying "in" the hotel meant in dodgy apartments across the road - with no heating, broken window blinds and construction immediately outside the doors at 6am (we only discovered this when... More
