This place is unique, we visited in the monsoon season and had an amazing experience with the wild life and the environment. Hamish the chatty host, is a font of knowledge about the area and the wildlife. He is also the chef and we had some great meals. He makes his own bread and uses local produce in his menu.... More

We stayed only 1 night here as we were touring around the area, it's a shame we couldn't stay longer. It's a good base for Cooktown and travelling along the Bloomfield track. The lodge is so relaxing in a stunning setting. The rains arrived the day we arrived and the sound of the frogs and the birds was amazing. Thanks... More

We stayed one night while visiting Cooktown. Mungumby was a lovely place, so quiet al, you can hear is the sound of the lovely creek that runs out the back of the bungalows. these are not luxury bungalows, they are basic lodgings but they are clean and bright and had all you needed. gardens were gorgeous. the best part of... We stayed two nights here and used it as a base for exploring the Cooktown area. We got a hearty welcome from Hamish whose night walk aound his woodland was very entertaining especially when Hamish had to move a fallen branch out of the way and got covered in green ants for his trouble. He showed us how to locate... More

Sadly only a 1 night stay as Mungumby was booked for our other available nights but we turned up in the morning, not a problem to Hamish who welcomed us. I couldn't wait to walk to the Hidden Waterfall for a rock pool swim which was fantastic. It is quite a precarious (and I saw a snake!), fun walk but... More

From the moment we arrived our hosts, Hamish and Isabella couldn't do enough for us. It's true that the lodge is located down a long, unmade up track, but we managed it in a normal car, although 4WD would have been better. Hamish took us on a night walk, which was really interesting. We had pre booked a 3 1/2... More

A beautiful, quiet place in the middle of the “bush” but also close by Cooktown. Sweet bungalows with all necessary facility you need. Hamish, Isabella and her are very friendly and helpful. The cuisine is also very delicious. Great Tips for a trip - Archer Point, Lions Den Pub, Cooktown.... We had a great time!

We stayed at Mungumby Lodge in May 2010 for two nights. We loved every minute - the tranquilty and atmosphere superb. Breakfast and dinner is served on the main verandah of the Lodge looking into the bush land - a really relaxing and comfortable place to wile away the hours. The food was really lovely, the walks to the waterfalls... More

My husband & I were looking to get out of Cairns for a weekend away over the New Year. We stumbled across Mungumby Lodge on the web and got a great locals rate. After an easy 3 hour drive from Cairns (road is fully sealed to Cooktown these days) we turned off onto Mungumby's 4 k unsealed driveway. There had... More
