We stayed one night at Milkwood while we were roadtripping on our honeymoon, we were pleased with the price and reviews found on trip advisor. The family looking after the lodge were friendly and helpful. The cabin itself was lovely, clean and comfortable. We went out for dinner and came back and the front door lock had jammed so we... We stayed here in 2 adjoining cabins during our visit to Cooktown. The cabins are spacious and airy with a nice verandah, aircon, a tiny TV and a mini lounge kitchenette. They had faulty doors unable to be locked easily and strangely no soap-holder in the shower. Ideal for those looking for excellent yet basic accommodation. There's a small pool... More

A cluster of 6 cute split level pole house cottages set in tropical gardens. A sun bird's nest on the balcony. All neat, tidy and compact mini homes away from home. Kristy and Justin looked after us, even making a courtesy call to make sure that when they were away from the office we were informed. They were informative about... More

A change of scenery from beautiful Cairns took us to the Milkwood Lodge for an overnight stay, sourced by my husband via Google. We were greeted by Scott and Vera who made us feel welcome and showed us to our fully equipped cabin. The layout was perfect for us, a great kingsize bed, and comfortable settee to lounge in front... Arriving a week after Cyclone Ita, the surrounding rainforest (in the pictures) had been battered and the sound of chainsaws filled the air however, no doubt the area will recover very quickly. The self contained accommodation was excellent, private, clean and picturesque. The lodge had a small pool and was just a few minutes drive out of town. The owners... More

Arrived from Port Douglas and immediately were welcomed by Bill . The cabin deck enabled you to sit outside and relax and listen to the birdlife ,saw wallabies , turkeys , lizards .We went into Cooktown and after arriving back after a meal then sat and talked to Vera and Bill for a couple of hours .. We stayed one night here and loved it. Would recommend for couples. Situated just out of town, so no noise. The self contained pole cabins are charming, having everything that you need and nothing that you don't. Super comfy beds, a great shower and a lovely deck to relax on while enjoying a glass of wine. The birdlife is great,... More

I stayed several nights here. It is just a couple of minutes outside of the main part of Cooktown. The cabin was very nice and restful. My only concern is that the cooking area was very small and not stocked with some essentials that are usually present in other self-catering places I have stayed.

We loved our stay in our own little self-contained unit. Sitting on our deck with a glass of wine at the end of a day exploring and watching the sun go down worked up our appetite. We stocked up on supplies and were able to fire up the barbie in the pool/bbq area, enjoying convivial conversation with our host, Vera,... More

Milkwood is a four to five minute drive from the centre of Cooktown in a beautiful rainforest garden setting. The self-contained cabins are a good size and well constructed with timber poles, flooring and loads of rustic charm. The absence of some creature comforts in the form of a TV larger than a breadbox is a minor consideration if you're... More

Thanks for your review and the nudge. The old "BreadBoxes" have been changed in to 24" flat screen LED/DVD combos much to the delight of our regular guests. Next on our list is a kitchenette upgrade. Thank you. Vera More
