Spent 3 nights in the self catering duplex cabin with friends. The two units are side by side in one log building with their own front "porch" area. One cabin has king bed, the other has a queen. You need to take all your own food as the lodge does not have a license to cook for anyone other than... More

I am at a loss for why anyone would whine about Aurum. One only has to read previous reviews to understand this is not a normal bed and breakfast or lodge. The owners roots are from the German speaking part of Switzerland so expect that influence. It has that European feel to it and no one should come here knowing... More

The place is very nice, the view and area, superb, but Alan and Madeleine (and their dog) made the weekend very special, though very “German” . The price is high and there is really no room service, only picking up the garbage and recycling (both, recycle and composting). I appreciate the energy efficiency and the investment they put in on... More

Treated like a million bucks. Alan and Madeleine are the hosts here and they are a wonderful warm couple. Accommodations super clean and comfortable. The food is amazing with attention paid to every detail especially dietary issues for my wife. Beautiful part of the world. It is a little tricky to find, but just follow directions on website. Also, in... More

I just returned from the Aurum Lodge after a wonderful weekend. The exceptional food and lovely accommodation would have been enough for me, but it was the warm hospitality of Madeleine and Alan Ernst that truly made my stay special. I would highly recommend this location to anyone wishing to visit Alberta. Five Stars all the way.

I stayed at the lodge for 4 nights in November 2013. It was fabulous. The room is spacious, the location is WOW ! The owners are very warm and helpful. The food is good. What more can you ask for. If you are looking for a quite retreat, a place to relax and to recuperate then this is the place.... More

This beautiful lodge is situated in a remote and spectacular location. If you are seeking quiet and comfortable accommodations in the heart of the Rockies, away from the crowds, look no further. Impressive mountains, the North Saskachewan river, Abraham Lake and Kootenay Plains are all within a short drive or walk. Rooms are well furnished and meticulously clean, meals are... More

I went out to Aurum Lodge for the weekend and quickly found it is a hidden gem. Easily one of the best places to appreciate what Canada has to offer. Pulling up, you are treated to a rustic log lodge with views towards Abraham lake and the mountains peeking over the trees. A quick walk brings more and more expansive... More

My wife and I came to Aurum Lodge as a mini honeymoon right after our wedding, to get away for a few days. Yes it's off the beaten path and very quiet as other reviews have noted, but that was the whole appeal for us. We didn't expect much service (like you would get from a hotel), and is exactly... More

Aurum Lodge was one of the absolute highlights of our 5 weeks in Western Canada in July. We absolutely loved it and have taken home some very special memories of our 4 nights there. Aurum Lodge is a very unique and extremely impressive eco lodge. We were looking for somewhere a bit special to stay close to Banff and Jasper... More
