A lovely dining area with a mix of old and new traditions. Attentive staff and food was very nice, i had the Roast chicken dinner which was very tasty and very good rump steak. Gingerbread cheesecake is definitely worth a try!

Well, where to begin? Manager was rude, room wasn't clean, and it was completely overpriced. Our room was considered 'ensuite' which involved there being a shower plonked in our room... The loo and bath were down the corridor, with no locks and filthy. To enter after 1am it was necessary to climb THROUGH the fire escape into the toilet.. Need... More

I often call into in this pub if in Towcester or on my way to Milton Keynes. The staff are great, Sally is a little gem! The food is good honest pub grub, well presented and reasonably priced. My fish and chips tonight was cooked to perfection. They also do a great range of beers, as you expect from a... More

Absolutely terrible place to stay I wouldn't let my dog stay there. How can a B &B in this century not have a shower in the room or in a bathroom that you can use they only have a dirty bath 😷 I will never stay here again although the food was good.

The Brave Old Oak was a good find. Whilst travelling a lot for work I stay all over, and what you want is a nice, clean room, a nearby pub with a decent menu and a good night's sleep. The oak has a variety of rooms, from a large triple bed with ensuite bathroom and lots of space down to... More

I like to go here as a meeting place as there are lots of places to sit and friendly bar staff. I occasionally here but not too keen on the menu. Portions sizes are very big, can rarely finish a meal. The drinks are more expensive here than some other pubs but the food is very cheap. Lots of outside... More

We really enjoy the food and atsmophere at the Brave Old Oak and go every 2 months or so. The prices are reasonable and we have had nice meals but they have also messed us around with kitchen closing times. They usually stop serving food at 8pm, one evening I called ahead to confirm this and we arrived at 7.40... More

Only stopped off for lunch here but was pleasantly surprised ( given some previous reviews.) The pub was warm and clean with an olde world atmosphere despite the pool table, which was set back in its own space. The beer was well kept, prices were very reasonable and the coffee was nice and in a generous sized cup. Staff were... More

Visited here planning to have dinner but was put off by someone sat in there with the dog (Not a Guide Dog) some dirty old mongrel, really think they should review lwtting dogs onto a premises where they are serving food.

As reasonably seasoned travellers across the UK we can say without reservation, this is one of the worst places we have ever stayed and would implore anyone not to make the same mistake. The pub itself looks quite reasonable from the roadside and it is only when you go inside you discover this place has little or no charm or... More
