I like to go here as a meeting place as there are lots of places to sit and friendly bar staff. I occasionally here but not too keen on the menu. Portions sizes are very big, can rarely finish a meal. The drinks are more expensive here than some other pubs but the food is very cheap. Lots of outside... More

We really enjoy the food and atsmophere at the Brave Old Oak and go every 2 months or so. The prices are reasonable and we have had nice meals but they have also messed us around with kitchen closing times. They usually stop serving food at 8pm, one evening I called ahead to confirm this and we arrived at 7.40... More

Only stopped off for lunch here but was pleasantly surprised ( given some previous reviews.) The pub was warm and clean with an olde world atmosphere despite the pool table, which was set back in its own space. The beer was well kept, prices were very reasonable and the coffee was nice and in a generous sized cup. Staff were... More

Visited here planning to have dinner but was put off by someone sat in there with the dog (Not a Guide Dog) some dirty old mongrel, really think they should review lwtting dogs onto a premises where they are serving food.

As reasonably seasoned travellers across the UK we can say without reservation, this is one of the worst places we have ever stayed and would implore anyone not to make the same mistake. The pub itself looks quite reasonable from the roadside and it is only when you go inside you discover this place has little or no charm or... More

This pub is fine if you're not too fussy, and I'm apparantly not. Yes, the bathroom walls and woodwork could do with a clean but it's a really old building and I'm sure it would be a nightmare to keep it clean, and the actual bath, toilet, etc are cleaned regularly. There's still no lock on the door of the... More

Stayed here on Saturday 21st July 2012 to see Adam Ant play at the Silverstone car festival. Ideal location (about 10 min drive from the circuit), free parking, great breakfast, and nice friendly staff. Good pint too.

Booking mix-up due to staff problems, linen clean and changed every morning, staff superb, friendly and hard working, food excellent and very reasonable, nice atmosphere in bar so stayed there in evenings. Basic but if visiting Towcester again would definately stay at Brave Old Oak.

This place is worn out and the food even though it's value is poor. If you want a heart attack and chips then by all means eat here. Me and my friend ate here last year, I had burger and chips he had mixed grill. I was really hungry but the food was awful and my friend in a busy... More

I'm still chuckling at the guy who gave this place five starts and mentioned it was under new management. Nothing at all has changed since the 1 star reviews written before that "five star" comment. There is still no fixed lock on the communal toilet door! I've stayed in three different rooms at the venue in December 2011/January 2012 and... More
