This is definitely one of the best B&Bs I have ever stayed in. Val takes enormous trouble over standards of cleanliness, providing a perfect cooked breakfast, and she equips each room with great care and generosity. She even provides a bottle of fresh spring water each day in the room. For the price I paid, I thought it amazingly good... More

First time visitors who were blown away. Travelled with a 9-year old who was having his first experience of this nature, having always had all-inclusive beach hotels. He, as well as my wife and I were taken aback by the quality and hospitality. As well as being a fabulous home it is imaculately clean, great beds, super shower, quality breakfast with... More

We visited last weekend on our tandem. Fabulous place, very luxurious, and the host Val is wonderful. Keeping the tandem bike in her garage overnight was absolutely no problem which was very reassuring. Beautifully furnished bedrooms, very much a 5* feel and the orangery is, well, so fantastic that I asked her for the builders phone number! Superb! We will... More

6 of us got here several hours late after cycling all day in the rain. Our dry clothes in the car stuck on the motorway. Val could not have done more to get us warm and comfortable. She lent my wife her clothes! The house is immaculate. Val arranged dinner for us at the pub (great), and fed us tea... More

I stayed here overnight whilst doing a super skills course and this B&B was recommended to me, and I understand why. Val was the perfect host, beautiful accommodation, fabulous breakfast, and lots of tea coffee and biscuits in the room. Large tv and adjustable comfy beds. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

We stayed two nights with Val, who made us feel welcome straight away. She also kindly booked a table for us at a local inn - old oak tree at South Kelvington. Before a visit to Elvington Air Museum - for a tour of the Halifax aircraft and old acquaintances at Skipton on Swale, breakfast was arranged to suit our... More

My sister booked us into Laburnum House for two nights, as she was unable to accommodate all of our family on the weekend of her daughter's wedding. Val greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm, she made us feel at 'home' right away. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, with tea and coffee amenities, lovely fluffy towels and toiletries... just in case... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hello my name is Val and I am the proud owner of laburnum house, a deceptively spacious home with contemporary furnishings, overlooking the Hambleton Hills.I am a Yorkshire lass born and bred, and have lived in the area for 55 years so i have good local knowledge. I can recommend places to visit, where to dine, and wonderful walks – as i am a keen walker myself. I am also passionate about Yorkshire! The house is very deceiving from the outside as you will see. There is a new toilet and hand basin downstairs, the guests dining room is large and beautifully furnished, with a fridge, and adjoining the dining room is a new bespoke orangery just finished in time for spring 2013. It is fully furnished with 3 and 2 seater settee and matching armchair and large footstool, 42″ flat TV, Roberts CD/radio player, and also a selection of board games and good reading. There are 3 rooms – 2 double rooms with ensuite, all newly decorated and large flat screen TVs. And a twin room, with remote control Tempur beds and a new bathroom with shower just a few steps over the landing. ... more   less
