I've been here for a food a few times in the past and I can honestly say that over time the quality of the food has got progressively worse. The decor is lovely and the staff attentive but when I pay over £25 for Steak & chips the very least I expect is for it to have been rested and... More

We went just for one night - were put in garden room 1. Plenty of room with very comfy bed and large bathroom and tv. And a gun safe (really). Staff very friendly. Nice terrace with view of vale of York. Food was good -We chose the seafood sharing board which was HUGE and then were presented with our main... More

The Carpenters Arms nestles in the side of the ridge-line which dominates the area. Surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside. The pub (which is part of the Provenance Chain) is set in pretty much the centre of a small village. The main pub building has been significantly added on to, although there is a old style bar area which might be... More

Noticed boards on main road to Sutton bank advertising the Carpenters so decided to give it a try. When we entered we chose a spot near an open fire and then asked at the bar if we could have a bar meal.We were ushered into the dining room as I don't think the staff realised we would have prefered the... We arranged to stay with friends at the Carpenter's Arms on 14 december and there was a misunderstanding about rooms at checkin. It was almost worth having the misunderstanding to see the speed and efficiency with which the staff dealt with it. The problem was resolved and the stay was excellent.

Six family adults celebrated New Year. Staff service and professionalism were outstanding. No requests were a problem. Food good, especially the breakfast. Lovely and warm throughout the hotel. All rooms were amaculate. Thanks to every one. Looking forward to our next visit

We stayed here for one night between Christmas and New Year with one room in the main building and another a garden room in the courtyard. The rooms are lovely, comfy beds, fresh milk for tea and coffee the only slight (very minor) complaint was the typical hotel rubbish hairdryer! The food in the evening was delicious with great service... More

We came here with our 2 little dogs. The food was a high standard (think Gastro pub), the decor was stylish with a roaring fire and deep red colour scheme and the service was friendly and prompt. The loos were very luxurious. We recommend it to foodies!

6 of us were so looking forward to our book club lunch last week . On previous occasions we have enjoyed the food here. But sadly I can only assume it was Chef,s day off ,the food arrived cold and under seasoned. However the day was saved by your wonderful Polish. Head Waiter. He was unfailingly courteous and kind in his... More
