An excellent small bed and breakfast in Thirsk. A couple of streets back from the main market square- which during busy Saturday nights is the best place to be. Beautifully furnished and very clean, I enjoyed a full breafast after my stay Friendly, welcoming staff. I booked an overnight stay, as I was attending a meal at the Crab and... More

St James House is a charming B&B full to the brim with an eclectic mix of beautiful antique furniture and ornaments. The large rooms were tidy, clean, the beds were comfortable and, above all (especially for those hailing from somewhere with a hot climate like Australia) WARM! In fact, the B&B was "warm" in every sense of the word, with... More

Arrived to a warm and friendly welcome as we took the case from the car. We were shown into the reception room which had the breakfast tables already set. Our room, on the first floor, was large, clean and airy with the en suite bathroom and toilet at the far end. The room contained a double and a single bed... More

Thank you for your very kind review. Pleased that your group of walkers enjoyed their stay. Pity about the muddy footpaths around the area, though. Hope that you found all the hidden items that you were looking for on your treasure hunting expedition. Look forward to you all coming again. More

I travel a lot in the surrounding area and have found this to be the best B&B so far (hence my 2nd stay) Nothing is ever any trouble for Barry, always a friendly welcome and interesting chat. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is great!! See you next time I'm in the area Barry.

Barry was welcoming, helpful and liked a chat. We got comfy rooms, he accommodated us all arriving at different times, cooked us a great breakfast in the morning and even called us a few hours after we'd left to check that we hadn't died in the snow on the Cleveland Way. (We hadn't.) I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Thank you for your excellent comments. Glad that you all survived the horrendous arctic conditions up on the Cleveland Way Long Distance Footpath. We look forward to seeing you again, hopefully, in better weather conditions. More

I stayed at St James House last week and have to say that I would certainly go back there without question next time I'm in the area. Barry the owner is a model host, friendly and genuine. The house is very traditional and homely. It's location is great, and the cooked breakfast in the morning was spot on.
