We cannot praise The Old Red House highly enough. A lovely chap opened the door to welcome us and it just kept getting better! All the staff are friendly, cheerful and welcoming. The menu is very well priced and the food was delicious. We had a mixture of cooked meals and baguettes - all were well presented and tasted very... More

Had Christmas Lunch here, could not fault it. The food was perfect as was the Christmas atmosphere the staff could not do enough for you. Go to this hotel often as the quality is amazing and very good value for money. It is a credit to owners Kev & Kathryn Harrison who work very hard to maintain the very high... More

We were staying locally for Christmas and the old red house was recommended to us as a pub that welcomed dogs. We only called in for drinks but the landlady was very welcoming, fussed our dog and had a good chat with us. We didn't eat but the food we saw being taken out looked lovely. Real home cooked style... More

Pros- cheap and clean sheets. Cons- everything else The room looks like it hasn't been updated in 40 years, dirty, though the bed was fine. Bathroom is just awful. Noise travels from the pub so don't expect to get any sleep before closing time. Could really go on and on but there's no need. Not even average, just really bad.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions, each time we've enjoyed, the accommodation Is adequate, the staff, landlord and landlady can't do enough for you! The food is excellent too and huge portions. Looking forward to our next stay in September

Booked two nights at Old Red House, we were shown to the annex, a building behind the pub, both our rooms were a disgrace, carpets & bathroom were dirty in our room , the shower in the other room was so grubby it had to be cleaned by the manager, the only good thing was the bed linen was very... We were staying in Topcliffe so invited family from Newcastle up for mothers day lunch. After a fabulous dinner here on the Saturday we were lucky enough to get a cancellation for the sunday carvery. All the food was homemade and delicious. You could help yourself to Yorkshires and crackling. The staff were very helpful. Will definetly be back. The... More
