Had lunch here today - we both had the grilled salmon fillet which was very tasty (but ever-so slightly underdone) & the vegetables were very nice (the carrots were perfectly cooked and some of the best tasting that I've enjoyed for a long time, the broccoli was just a tad overcooked for me but still good, and there was a... The jester hotel is tired and out dated. The location is quite apart from the train that goes passed and is very loud! The room was spacious but again needing tlc! The food was nice and fairly priced. The atmosphere was dead! In all if there was an injection of life and money. Wouldn't go back!

Re-visited the Jester for a meal last week, it has been about 6 months since our last visit when the food was not good but as it is fairly local decided to try it again. Big mistake!!!! The stuffed chicken dinner was awful, sent back straight away as the vegetables was cold (same as last time) and the chips (supposedly... More

This establishment was recommended by another hotelier who had overbooked and suggested I stay here instead. I stay in hotels regularly on business so am able to judge what is adequate and what is not. On entering the hotel through the front it does not make a good impression. It is quite untidy, drab and tired. My room (room 1)... More

Had a pleasant 2 niight stay whilst visiting Royston Cambridge, for a family wedding. Friendly welcoming staff, nice rooms and good breakfasts, we had a meal also on the 1st night which was good... Would use the Jesters again if we are visiting the area again.

On business in the area I booked in to the Jester Friendly staff welcomed me and my room was fine I ate dinner here and the food , whilst not cheap, was very good - breakfast too was excellent Yes the decor is a little tired but overall a decent place to stay

On arrival the outer appearance is pleasant - typical country pub. However, on entering, the interior decor is drab, dreary and somewhat old fashioned (not in a good way). Bar staff were unwelcoming and frosty putting even more of a downer on the place. Waiting staff were marginally better. The food left a lot to be desired. The meat was... More

I went to a wedding at the Jester in August and had a wonderful time. We stayed there two nights and found the rooms to be comfortable, clean and very quiet. Great location too - right next to the railways station, with very pretty gardens and good beer on tap. Nice breakfast and evening meals too! The staff were really... More

Funnily enough I was at the same wedding by a previous reviewer my partner being the best man and myself the photographer and it was a wonderful day. Maggie and staff worked tirelessly all day to make everything run smoothly without being intrusive. I also had the chicken which had a delicious cheese sauce and was cooked perfectly. Yes, a... More
