We were walking in Norfolk today (absolutely beautiful) and just wanted something light for lunch, preferably soup. This was the only place in Thornham that was able to offer this along with a very friendly welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed the home made soup and great beer then were quickly on our way again.

We didn't stay here but we came for dinner and the food was delicious! We had the part of the restaurant we were in completely to ourselves which was great for us (not sure how good for their business though!) the waiter was really attentive and wished me happy birthday. We had a starter each but should probably have shared... More

Must be simply the best place for a meal in Thornham. Service was very quick and the Rib Eye Steak was one of the best I have ever tasted. Every one had a cheerful smile on the face and chatted with all customers. Will certainly call there again and you would be strongly advised not to drive passed. Well behaved... More

Enjoyed a lovely meal last night with the family. Excellent service, friendly and helpful staff food was lovely. Could not fault our night. Unfortunately some of the other diners on another table were rude to the staff and showed themselves up. Would eat here again definately.

Visited the chequers as a group of 7. We put placed right in the middle of a near enough empty restaurant, with no atmosphere, bright lights and cheap table cloths. Food was ok but over priced for what you get and little time given between each course. Service was good but overall felt like we were rushed. It's the first... More

I have nothing bad to say about this place. We ate here during a 3 night break in Thornham. I enjoyed my pizza, good bar area with local ales, friendly efficient service. However mixed reviews across our family party of 7. It's good for families. If you only have one night to eat out in Thornham I'd choose the Orange... More

While staying at the Lifeboat Inn we visited the Chequers Inn for a meal one evening. It was excellent with a good choice on the menu. I had a pizza with bacon and Brie it was truly delicious, my husband had the steak and mushroom pie and said he thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were excellent and efficient. Would recommend this... I booked to stay here but 6pm the night before I was due to check in they called to say there was no rooms and to be honest that's all they had to say. They wasn't really bothered that I was without somewhere to stay and when I asked why they had waited until 6pm the reply was "Well I... More

After a great stay at The Chequers in 2014 a repeat visit has been made indeed a anniversary visit. The main reason for choosing the Chequers was the dog friendly policy which is very important to us. We booked the same ground floor room, No 1, which has direct outside access, very useful for late night wee wee`s and within... More
