We have just spent 2 nights on a late deal at the George which is best described as typical local pub with decent meals at reasonable prices,We ate in the pub on both nights as we were virtually snowed in,The bar area is like a youth club with the local kids being a bit loud down to not being able... We stayed one night at this pub with friends so that we could go walking in the area. The George is an ideal place to retreat to after a long day in the hills - the rooms are clean and spacious, the shower is hot, the food is good and very reasonably priced and the whole place is very dog... More

Although it wasn't very busy when we went, all the rooms were full. Our room (4) was nice and clean, and large enough to accommodate us and our dog. Food in the restaurant was good and not over priced. Breakfast also good. Overall was a good stay and would definitely recommend.

very basic though roomy pub compared to others in the village, rarely seems many in though no wonder when owned by a man with a man that dresses like he just walked off the alotment and seems to have no care for the customers, the food seesm to be equaly rubish tp occasionally ok depending on what chef they have... Had a lovely time staying one night over the weekend. We booked the room at the last minute to have an escape from the city and was ideal. Room was clean modern and nicely laid out with a comfy bed. We had dinner in the evening at the pub and was great. Decent quality and large portions. Overall a lovely... More

We stayed here due to my wife doing a health and safety coarse a couple of miles away. Firstly the welcome couldn't have been warmer or more friendly, excellent start! Then shown to our room (room 3) and we were both very happy. Clean and comfortable. We arrived at around 7 so had time to eat here and I'm so... More

We were stuck on Boxing Day evening in Tideswell due to horrific road conditions and both roads out of the valley blocked with abandoned cars. The staff in The George were sympathetic and helpful, phoning around for us and eventually finding us a bolt hole with a local resident. The locals were friendly and bar comfortable with an unfussy selection... More

We ate lunch here first which was Italian bread sandwich and home made soup - delicious; there was other options. My friends and I had two evening meals too, the first visit we all had the lamb which was melt in your mouth and accompanied with a good selection of fresh vegetables. The next visit our group all chose different... More

8 of us were excited to go to the local pub on our visit to tideswell but we were disappointed to receive a miserable service from behind the bar. Barman almost seemed like it was an effort to serve us all. When we went to play pool and paid our money to line up the balls the cue ball was... More
