We came across Handels Muse by chance, and was very impressed in what we found. We were looking for a tranquil retreat away and this place is perfect. Tucked away in the derbyshire countryside but not too far away from the local village. The owners Vaughan and Diane were very friendly and the cottage was equipped with everything we needed... More

Thank you Vaughan and Diane, for an absolutely unforgettable weekend! I booked a stay at Oldfields Farm as a surprise for my partner's 30th, whose family lived close by in Derby. Having explained my plans for the weekend with Vaughan, he was extremely flexible in helping us find the right solution and space for our needs. At every step of... More

Five of us spent a week over Christmas in Gorsey Hayes. A beautiful location and a gem of a cottage. Vaughan and Diane were very hospitable and thoughtful, with mince pies, cream, wine and other goodies on our arrival, and the cottage felt lovely and festive with a tree and lots of little christmassey touches. As others have said, the... More

Oldfields Farm is an ideal base for a holiday in the Derbyshire/Staffordshire area. 5 mins from Ashbourne, 15 mins from Alton Towers and 30 mins from Matlock Bath. The accommodation is immaculate, comfortable with everything you could possibly want. With homemade scones, jam and cream awaiting our arrival (with 1 spare as we were 1 person down) our first evening... More

We had a idyliic and restful stay - the cottage was absolutely wonderful and the pictures didn't do the property justice.....very tastefully decorated - all mod cons! Diane was very hospitable - lovely scones, clotted cream and jam awaiting us on our arrival, coffee, tea and milk in abundance - a wonderful restful stay!!! Will definitely return again!

We spent a wonderful week in the Handel's Muse, which looks exactly like the photos: furnished with great taste, a fully-equipped kitchen, a cosy living room, in a peaceful area. We enjoyed the beautiful garden, and our private patio. Oldfields Farm is conveniently located for visiting sites like Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick hall or walking in the Peak District. We... Just enjoyed a fabulous long weekend break at Oldfields Farm, Snelston. Superb accommodation, delightfully presented food and hospitality that made our stay just wonderful. Hosts Glyn and Jan deserve all the very fulsome accolades they have garnered here - and then some. For ourselves, we know we couldn't have made a better choice.
