Stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a wedding party. Very nice room, although had a lingering stale odour that would not leave. Very comfortable four poster bed and nice view to the front of the premises. Nice enough restaurant, staff a mixture between chatty and miserable. Not a great deal to do in the surrounding area, nice gardens with... more

Booked Sunday lunch for my wife and I to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. The service was poor with no bread served with the starters and I had to go back to the bar to ask for some. The main courses, roast beef and roast lamb were clearly from a catering pack, sliced some time ago and then reheated in... more

Had a one night stay after a business trip and thought hotel was nice and relaxing. Lovely grounds, lots of places to sit and read and had afternoon tea in the nice conservatory. Breakfast OK. Great if you can get a deal for a weekend break. Didn't get chance to use the spa but looked good. more

We stayed for a night this weekend as part of an extended family celebration. On arrival, the room was roasting, since all radiators were on full blast. However, once cool it was comfortable and quiet. The bar is cosy, the garden is very pleasant on a sunny spring day. The aspect which I found most disappointing was the food. From... more

Thank you for the review of your overnight weekend stay at the hotel on an extended family celebration. I am delighted that the room was comfortable and quiet, albeit too warm on arrival, and that you enjoyed the cosy bar and pleasant aspect of the gardens. I was concerned to read that you were disappointed with the food and I...

Just returned from 2-night break with my daughters. Our Room was in a suite not part of the old building. The first shock was that the extra bed in the room which was needed was not a proper bed, but a campbed in the separate lounge area. When booked I was not told that it would be a campbed, this... more

Thank you for the review of your weekend stay at the Risley Hall Hotel and Spa. First and foremost I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding over the type of extra bed put in your suite. They are temporary foldaway beds and this should have been explained when we took your booking. I would like to assure you that...

We stayed 3 nights over a weekend. The positive points of our stay were good food (nicely cooked and presented), efficient and attentive staff, a comfortable room (in main house) and the spa facilities. The only negative feature that we would comment on is that some areas (swimming pool, gents changing room, car park, outside signage) looked rather tired and... more

My husband and I booked for valentines night, and on arriving at the hotel we both commented on what a lovely building and setting it was. We were greeted on reception and directed to our room, however we were not told any information about times for breakfast etc. After arriving at our room which was very nice and as I... more

I was delighted that you enjoyed the lovely setting and that your room was very nice but was disappointed that your stay was let down by comments made by members of staff in the bar. I think Risley is definitely a hotel of two halves. I had a 'spa break' recently with some friends and stayed in the annexe as other reviewers have. The main hotel is lovely - very quaint, the little bars and lounges were lovely, the evening meal was extremely nice. The annexe, however, is as others have found it. Our room... more

We have just stayed at this hotel and have got to say it totally exceeded our expectations. We had a superb customer journey from our reservation thru their highly professional Central Reservation office right thru to our departure. The rooms are large and extremely comfortable...they upgraded us to a suite with a four poster bed, as it was my hubbie's... more

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on a special reduced rate. I had trouble trying to book this so the reservation didn’t start off well. Central reservations told me that there wasn’t any availability, but on calling the hotel direct there appeared to be problems with the central reservations booking systems because there was availability. The hotel couldn’t... more
