We booked a week in the apartment at Horsleygate Hall in May 2014, and extended our stay by two days as we enjoyed it so much. The apartment is comfortable with a homely, spacious feel. Kitchen equipment is of very good quality and there is a good bathroom with a large shower and plenty of hot water. The bedroom is... More

We stayed here on our way up to Leeds to collect our son from 'Uni' as an alternative to staying in Leeds itself. The gardens are absolutely amazing and you are free to wander round and enjoy them. The house itself is absolutely superb with lots of antiques and old bits and pieces. The owners are charming and could not... More

The owners, Robert and Margaret, were friendly and approachable, although a little reserved. Their sweet spaniels were adorable. They mentioned selling up in the next few years as they are getting on a bit - and I think this is reflected in the business. The rooms look a little tired, as if they don't have as much love and care... More

We've just had a w/end walking in Peak district. Margaret & Robert's hospitality in Horsleygate hall was perfect. lt is a comfortable classy old stone house with 3 let bedrooms only & open feel to use of lounge & dining room, full of interesting old pieces. Gardens fit for the NT top-ten gardens in derbyshire book.. a truly wonderful woodland... More

From the time you go through the gates, you feel as though you've entered an enchanted world intoxicating your senses with scents & sights from the flowers to truly transport you to another world. The house, and its occupants - Robert & Margaret, are both warm & welcoming. Their openness to let you explore their exquisite gardens & indulge you... More

This is the ideal place to stay if you're visiting Chatsworth House and the Yorkshire Sculpture Garden in Wakefield. A real treat. Only three roooms in this late 18 century farmhouse, so we were lucky to have booked in advance. The breakfast is home-made, and people come from afar just to look at the garden. Margaret and Robert made us... More

A friendly welcome from both Mr and Mrs Ford and a cup of tea in the sitting room where a fire was lit for us (in June!). The house, which is part Georgian and part Victorian is full of interesting objects and feels very comfortable. The bedroom was good and the gardens are stunning.A nice breakfast to start the day... After slip-sliding our way down the approach road due to the snow and ice, we were welcomed with a lovely cup of tea and cake - just what the doctor ordered. Our room was large with a seating area in the window from which we could see the snow lying on the hills. We were supposedly sharing a bathroom, but... More

I am a native of Derbyshire but live in the US every year I return to Derbyshire to visit friends and family. I adore Horsleygate it is peaceful, with beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside. Mr. Mrs Ford make me feel welcome without intruding when I stay in one of their cottages. I can never wait to go back again.
