Good food and nice rooms but pricey. £3.90 for a pint of Bradfield Farmers Blonde (a 4% beer made 12 miles away). They seem to be more into wine than beer. The former is prominently on show everywhere you look and the posh wine glasses on every dining table also point the way. My partner was glad to see Bombay... More

Large rooms, friendly service and good food and beer - everything a National Parks B&B should be. Minor quibbles (that should put no-one off) - rooms could do with a little updating (does anyone play tapes and CDs any more?) and please have real coffee available in the rooms instead of instant. Would definitely recommend and come again!

We came for an early evening meal and it was first class all round. A very warm welcome and wonderful ambience. Excellent service and perfectly cooked food. Just perfect and looking forward to our next visit.

We came here for tea one Sunday night, we hadn't booked and even though they had a big party in were more than accommodating! We had the Rare Roast Beef dinner which was fabulous! The Beef was super tender and tasty. I was disappointed that there wasn't any Apple Crumble left as I was really looking forward to it after... More

We stayed for a long w/e at The Plough Inn, just outside Hathersage, in early October in order to do some walking in the Peak District. It is a well positioned, quite small but high quality rural Inn frequented by locals, walkers and quite a number of families probably out from Sheffield. We received an informal but friendly welcome on... More

We stopped here for something to eat on a Saturday lunchtime after a bit of shopping in Hathersage. The prices are a little higher than normal, however it really does reflect in what you get. We were greeted by very friendly staff and after deciding to sit outside in the courtyard they offered to bring the drinks out to us.... More

Our room No 5 was drab, dusty & very tired in every way from the bowl of fir cones to the plastic plant . This room was definitely in a time warp of golds/rust & green. There was no WIFI connection whatsoever & the landlord was not in the slightest concerned about that. The room was spacious & the bed... More

My family and I visited to enjoy a nice evening meal. We had heard good things about the food and were eager to find out for ourselves. We order starters of Whitebait, Scallops, and Mackerel, all were very good, generous portions and prepared and presented in an appealing way. For the main courses we ordered Rib Eye steaks, the Steak... More

we travelled as a couple with our small dog and spent two nights at the Plough and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. When we arrived we were immediately made to feel welcome and were shown our excellent double bedroom with en-suite shower room. The bar staff were all attentive and very friendly with an impressive variety of beers and wines... More

A real gem. I love these well run independents when I am away on business compared to the big chains. A really nice, charming room. The food was "spot on". I had the steak and Guiness pie. It says on the menu that it needs 20 minutes, but worth the wait. A proper northern pie, a wraparound suet crust, no... More
