As mentioned in previous reviews this is a victorian building and the inside reflects this, but to a very nice standard. I think it's nice to get away from the modern hotels where every room is the exact same as the next hotel. I was meet buy the owner and a very nice person on arrival and shown to my... More

Whenever I am travelling in north west England I try to plan my journey so I can stay at the Window in the Willows hotel, which I consider the perfect "English Hideaway". The hotel is kept to a very high standard. I have a stayed in a number of different bedrooms and they are all extremely well decorated. Normally I... More

Clean, well organised, freshly cooked breakfast (although a little small) and a comfortable room. In some senses what more could one ask? Nothing really, but its a Victorian-style House, not luxurious so much as comfortable, and in places seemed rather a sombre place. In a competitive environment I felt it was not as good value as several others where I... More

I went here with my bride to be for a valentine's weekend away, no problem with the booking £70 bed and breakfast. I recieved an e-mail from the manager with the menu attached asking if we would like to reserve a table for the evening, which was a nice touch, the menu looked well but didn't look worth the £32... Although this was a solo business trip, and I chose the hotel for convenience, I would certainly recommend it as a 'destination' hotel. Lovely warm welcome, old style bedroom extremely well appointed, lovely and warm (on a cold January) and very convenient for Glossop where you can find a particularly good Indian Restaurant (recommended by the hotel owner). Breakfast was... More

We have enjoyed dining here before and again we were not disappointed. Not the cheapest place to eat but just right for that special occasion. The hotel/restaurant is very tastefully furnished and our meal was excellent. As local residents we have not stayed here so can't really comment on the hotel side.

We had booked into the Wind in the Willows in order to visit family in the area. We had gone out for dinner and found the hotel cold and dark on our return around 10pm. Unfortunately there was no warm welcome, or lovely fire burning, the only option was to go to bed. The next day we were leaving after... More

The hotel is in a beautiful old country house that is very well decorated and furnished in period character. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Perfect for exploring Glossop and the snake pass area. It's a little far from town (about 1.6 miles) but that made it very quiet and peaceful.

This is a lovely hotel. We received a very warm welcome and throughout our stay, our hosts could not have been more helpful. We spent our time walking and visiting the sites in the Peak District and returned in the late afternoon to relax in our room. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We ate in on a...
