Red House Country Hotel is a gem. I was made to feel extremely welcome and the room that I was allocated (I'd been upgraded to a larger room as the hotel was quiet) was beautifully clean with a fantastic view of the garden. The bathroom was modern and spotless and I had one of the best night's sleep that I've... More

My wife and I stayed at The Red House Country Hotel for two nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival, after a long journey, and were shown to a warm and comfortable room with every attention to detail. We chose to eat in the hotel on the first night and were glad that... More

My husband and I spent the weekend at this hotel on the 11th and 12th November 2001. From the moment we arrived we were very impressed and made to feel at home straight away. Our room (no 3) was very spacious and overlooked the wonderfully kept gardens. The bathroom was very impressive and had a lovely roll top bath, this... More

The Red House is a real find. While Darley Dale itself may not feature high on the list of places to go within the Peak District, it is an excellent place to base yourself, being as it is within near-enough proximity to Matlock, Matlock Bath, Bakewell, Buxton and, most crucially, the ever-impressive Chatsworth House. The Red House itself is located... More

We stayed here as we were attendng a wedding close by. We decided to extend our stay to make a weekend break and are really glad we did. The hotel had an old fashioned, friendly atmosphere with a very personal service from the owners. Our room was large with lovely views over the gardens. The bed was very comfortable and... More

We stayed here last year and it was so good we booked again for this year. It was just as good, the staff just as welcoming and it almost felt as if we were coming home. We have booked again for next year as it is a lovely hotel set in such an interesting area. All the staff are so... More

Overall the hotel was clean, friendly, very efficient with regards waiting times but the food was tasteless and very disappointing (to the point i ended up going out for fish and chips after a 4 course evening meal). I also think it was so over priced for what it was. More

We are glad that you found our hotel clean, friendly and efficient but extremely disappointed that you did not enjoy your dinner. However, we most vehemently refute that our food is “tasteless”. Nor do we believe that £28 is too expensive for a four-course dinner, including coffee, especially when everything is freshly prepared by our chef, using the best ingredients.... More

We stayed here for two nights as a romantic weekend away for my husband's birthday. Such a grand building to look at on arrival and a very warm welcome too. Our room was delightful with the balcony and view a particular highlight. The hotel is located 2 miles outside of Matlock so there are some lovely restaurants and bars just... More

Quiet location, excellent room, service, food & wine. From the moment of our arrival we experienced a friendly & comprehensive introduction to the hotel, including a tour of the facilities. The welcome cup of tea and cake was a nice gesture. If you want a place with lots of noise and hectic atmosphere don't come here! But, for a relaxing... More
