We visit Castleton twice a year, religiously, this is the first time we have visited this inn. On entering the Peak, we were very pleasantly surprised, it was a beautiful establishment, with gorgeous decorations.....everything was set out to look very Christmassy and it worked, well done. We had starters, soup and prawns which were both yummy; on reflection, maybe we shouldn't... More

My wife and I called in with our 2 dogs for a snack. I had a pint of Guinness which was very good and my wife had a pot of Earl Grey tea which she said was ok. We both had a ham sandwich, with crisps and a salad garnish, on what is called a wholemeal mini loaf. It was... More

Popped in for lunch in late October. Lovely ambiance, nice touches (proper candles on all the tables) great service, terrific menu, good prices and food beautifully cooked and presented. New owners who are doing everything right in my humble opinion. They deserve to succeed. Pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed! Chris Lightfoot

The Peaks is a lovely hotel, dog-friendly,well furnished and with lovely, welcoming staff. It's an ideal place to relax after walking the nearby hills or just spending an afternoon in this beautiful village. Its Achilles' Heel though is the food, at least at lunchtime. The menu is uninspiring and the beef and ale "casserole" I attempted was, to be euphemistic,... More

Just returned from great two night stay at The Peaks Inn over the bank holiday weekend. We stayed in room 4 which was a very clean and well presented en-suite. 4 poster king sized bed so the room was fairly large with high ceilings looking out onto the road. Tea / Coffee making facility in the room which was replenished... More

Ate here over the weekend. Pint was ok, food was dire. I ordered the fillet of sole stuffed with crab and prawn with veg. Sauce was as expected when you absolutely annihilate something in a microwave. Veg had been cooked so many times it was worse than I remember terrible school dinners being. The fish was laughable (either lidl or... More

Called in for a meal at The Peaks Inn during our stay in Castleton. Bar staff friendly, Service good. Adult meals average. We had the large gammon which wasn't ! Meat not of the best quality. Children's meals were better.

Good decent pub grub, tasty and sensibly price main meals from £6.50. Good range of burgers with chips and salad around £9... small but more than adequate selection of puddings and free parking across the road. Staff friendly, sincere and cheerful. No complaints at all.

The pub is welcoming with a real fire. The young man at the bar was friendly and accommodating. The food was good and arrived promptly. One dessert was unsatisfactory but the problem was dealt with very well without fuss. A pleasant evening. We came here after The Bulls Head were very awkward about parking and do not allow dogs indoors... More

We found ourselves in Castleton on a wet windy B/H Monday looking for somewhere for lunch.4 adults and small 5 kids. All other pubs were busy and so was the Peaks but the staff went the extra mile for us and put 2 tables together. Although pub was very busy, staff v helpful and friendly. Food nice and good value.... More
