Just stayed here for 3 nights. Lovely staff as always at YHA. Very old building converted for modern YHA purpose inside. Best self catering YHA kitchen full conversion I've seen to date. Large & well equipped with a good social dining space within it too. Lovely individual wet room with shower, toilet and basin near my dorm. The older features... More

I have been there for an event 3 days long, but actually didnt sleep in there. The place is lovely and the structure as well. There are several rooms for meetings. The food was good and staff well organised and nice for the amount od people during the event. The sourrounding area is lovely, especially for walks,

The modern new style building and the old style hall enables the perfect mix of modern convenience and grand settings add to that the lovely staff and you are on to a winning combination. I was wowed by the self catering kitchen and the garden is a delight.

We're a family of 4 and stayed for 1 night in a family room as part of a cross-Peak District Hike. Very happy to recommend this beautiful hostel. Had great dinner in the restaurant followed by reading the paper in the stunning plush sitting room overlooking the beautiful garden- a delight. The reception and restaurant staff were very, very nice.... More

We stayed two nights in a very spacious en-suite family room B15. It's the first YHA which we did not have to do our own beddings! The room is clean and new with big shower room and separate toilet. The lounge and dining room are beautiful with nice furniture. One thing we miss is a game room to entertain the... More

An absolutely beautiful place, both building and grounds. It made us feel like we were visiting somewhere very special. Communal areas were spacious, clean and fit for purpose. The evening dining room was particularly welcoming with candles and tasteful decor overlooking the grounds. On checking in, we felt an urge to thoroughly explore the whole building, which we did, using... More

Amazing place. Had one of the best times. Perfect location. Brilliant for kids and large groups. Spent 5 days there and loved every minute. Great location for walking with lots of good routes for all ages and abilities. Only issue I found was a pub was a bit of a trek and parking in Castleton is very limited. Beds where... More

This is a great youth hostel for a large family get-together. We stayed for 2 nights in the West Mews which was booked exclusively for our group of 24. It has its own kitchen and lounge so is completely self contained. The facilities in the Mews are of a good standard - the lounge is big enough and attached to... More

I've just come back from a weekend yoga retreat held at YHA Losehill Hall. Having not stayed in a youth hostel for over 20 years I wasn't sure what to expect - but I was blown away by the property, the rooms, communal areas and the food (amazing vegan food). All the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating - I... More

Stayed here a while ago enjoyed the location - what a joy to be able to walk from the door into the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Walked to Mam Tor - lovely - and bought free range eggs on the way. A lovely setting and the property is really pretty. A word of warning - rooms are operated by a security... More

Wow, you were on a long tour if you've only just got home to review a year later! Hope it was a good trip. You are right, it is a lovely place and a great base to walk from. One or two of your comments puzzled us a bit? We have the biggest self catering kitchen in the whole of... More
