5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

We stayed two nights in a very spacious en-suite family room B15. It's the first YHA which we did not have to do our own beddings! The room is clean and new with big shower room and separate toilet. The lounge and dining room are beautiful with nice furniture. One thing we miss is a game room to entertain the... More

An absolutely beautiful place, both building and grounds. It made us feel like we were visiting somewhere very special. Communal areas were spacious, clean and fit for purpose. The evening dining room was particularly welcoming with candles and tasteful decor overlooking the grounds. On checking in, we felt an urge to thoroughly explore the whole building, which we did, using... More

Amazing place. Had one of the best times. Perfect location. Brilliant for kids and large groups. Spent 5 days there and loved every minute. Great location for walking with lots of good routes for all ages and abilities. Only issue I found was a pub was a bit of a trek and parking in Castleton is very limited. Beds where... More

This is a great youth hostel for a large family get-together. We stayed for 2 nights in the West Mews which was booked exclusively for our group of 24. It has its own kitchen and lounge so is completely self contained. The facilities in the Mews are of a good standard - the lounge is big enough and attached to... More

I've just come back from a weekend yoga retreat held at YHA Losehill Hall. Having not stayed in a youth hostel for over 20 years I wasn't sure what to expect - but I was blown away by the property, the rooms, communal areas and the food (amazing vegan food). All the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating - I... More

Stayed here a while ago enjoyed the location - what a joy to be able to walk from the door into the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Walked to Mam Tor - lovely - and bought free range eggs on the way. A lovely setting and the property is really pretty. A word of warning - rooms are operated by a security... More

Wow, you were on a long tour if you've only just got home to review a year later! Hope it was a good trip. You are right, it is a lovely place and a great base to walk from. One or two of your comments puzzled us a bit? We have the biggest self catering kitchen in the whole of... More

I've returned to Castleton YHA this time with all my family. We decided to stay in the Original Building this time in preference to the annexe. We stayed in Room A2 which is a 4 Person Family Room Complete with a pair of Bunk Beds. This part of the Hostel retains many Period Features such as High Ceilings,Sash Windows and... More

We are fairly new to yha, but this was a great break. As a family of five short breaks can be expensive but the family rooms here were spacious and clean with en suites. The staff were friendly and helpful and the whole place had a really good atmosphere. Also my kids had a fab time exploring outside. We had... More

Two night stay midweek arriving 22:30hrs. Despite being half term and fully booked, the staff were always to hand and very friendly and helpful. It's a magnificent old hall with all mod cons for guests complete with a large cosy lounge to rest in and various comfy armchairs spread about on some landings. Free wifi to keep connected, too. It was... More

As soon as you pull onto the long drive up to the reception, you get a feeling about this place. And upon entering, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had a quick potter around before heading out to meet friends for dinner. But I didn't really get an idea of the place till I returned, It really is... More
