After a beautiful winter walk around Mam Tor, what better way to finish than a pint and a packet of crisps in a homely, fire stoked pub. Toooooo much to ask. At 2.50 in a pub that advertises that it is open until 3.00pm. We were turned away. Find it hard to believe that in a quiet season our 20... More

We come here regularly because Pete & Tobias, and their fantastic staff, maintain consistently very high standards throughout the year. Whatever the reason for our visit has been, we've always been delighted - nothing less. The boys clearly like a challenge. What could they do to raise the bar on a special occasion? After all, get someone's NYE wrong and... More

Popped in for a few quiet drinks whilst staying in the area with my wife. Pleasant bar staff and a wide selection of drinks ticked all the boxes for me! Pub looks nice and welcoming and the ales that i tried tasted great! Keep it up

Staff were wonderful and extremely friendly. Nothing too much trouble and very attentive to residents. Food was delicious and we had beautifully cooked steaks. The choice of food was also very good with a selection of rustic pub classics as well as modern specials. The breakfast was huge and very tasty. Accommodation was clean, stylish, comfortable and well presented. We... More

Stayed four nights in July at the Bull's Head which is in the centre of Castleton, great location with large free car park for paying guests. Easy access to all rooms via a secure door to the main entrance with a key provided. We stayed in room five to the front of the Hotel which is a large comfortable, modern... More

Not much to say, a very unimpressive eating place. The food was reasonable but there was quite a wait and the dining area was nearly empty when we arrived but it filled up later. It should have been quite homely with a log fires, low ceilings, stone walls and heavy curtains but it was a bit dark and dismal and... More

Ordered lunch and coffees etc.... The downside was the wait for lunch. It did take so long that I took my eldest to the shop next door. Also, the waitress (when serving) was a little stand offish though - whence the 4 stars and not 5 - otherwise it would have been 5. The lady in the shop did say... More

We Have stayed at the Bull before, but not in room 5, the room was tidy with a double bed with en'suite shower room, the view from the window was to the road which was noisy, the room is directly over the bar area so it was very noisy until closing time, I accept that it is a pub, however... More
