We had an excellent lunch in this pub. The pub interior is well mainitained and comfortable with real fires. The food was good quality, fresh and reasonably priced - beer good too. There is much to reccommend Castleton also, lots to see nearby and pubs are numerous too. We intend to return for a weekend stay in this pub on... More

We went for a meal out with two families on a busy Saturday night. I had expected the usual stress of trying to talk to bar staff about dairy free meals for my eight year old ho is allergic to milk. The man at the bar was so very helpful and chilled about it that it put me completely at... More

We called in at the pub for a break after exploring Castleton, the pub was warm and welcoming. The food being served looked and smelled fantastic. The cream tea was good value for money and lucky for my better half it was large enough to share. We were served immediately and all staff were polite. I would consider going again... More

On the recommendation of the Four Seasons Guest house we came for dinner and drinks here on the evening of Friday 15th, We had a table by the fire, there was a good choice of well kept ales and the food choice looked good. The food was absolutely excellent! I had the Black Pudding to start followed by the Natural... More

This is a review of one of the two cottages the pub rents out rather than the actual pub. We stayed here with friends for a couple of nights during the weekend of the Christmas lights switch on. On arrival we found that there was nowhere to park near the cottage so dropped our bags off before parking at the... More

We went here on a Sunday and found the town packed. The Bulls head looked promising but we struggled to find a table, eventually we got a seat and sat and enjoyed a good sunday lamb roast dinner. Desert took a very long time to come which was a pity.

I visited the Bulls Head in Castleton on a Saturday just before Christmas. The pub was busy but unlike two other pubs we tried, we were able to get a table. I fancied the Steak & Kidney Pie. This was served with chips and veg. The pie was spot on, 10/10, couldn't fault it. But why oh why do pubs... More

We called on a cold day in December for a lunchtime meal to celebate my friend's birthday. We had a crispy duck and pancake starter to share which was very tasty. For mains I chose liver, bacon, mash, and veg which was very good, hot and the liver cooked just right. However my friend chose the roast beef which wasn't... More

We dropped in on impulse early on a frosty winter's evening to find we were among only half a dozen people in the spacious, well furnished open-plan bar/dining area. There was a welcoming log fire in the big 18th century hearth and comfy leather chairs and sofas - it's a 'smart casual' kind of place, not a muddy boots walkers'... More
