Oh dear, what a disappointment. Visited Castleton on a beautiful spring day & spotted rabbit pie advertised outside this charming inn, ideal - I LOVE rabbit pie. A lovely pub with excellent ale & pleasant staff. I ordered the pie & my partner ordered the philly steak & salad. When the food arrived I tried the chips, they were lukewarm.... More

Went to the George on a rainy Saturday afternoon , the lamb shank and fish & chips were tasty and good sized portions as usual. The beer is aways good along with fast friendly service with a nice open fireplace .The menu has something for most people Well worth a visit.

The rooms are suitable, a little basic but comfortable and clean. Had one meal in the restaurant and it was very good, would... More

We saved a little corner for some ice cream. This pub is very pleasant,... More

Backpacking around the Peak on a very wet & cold weekend, I sought Sunday lunch in Castleton. Looked at 4 or 5, the George looked good value. Great welcome, "bring your stuff in to dry a bit", "sit by the fire". The lad who served me even gave me route advice for the afternoon (if he reads this, it still... More
