Had lunch with my daughter- incredible value for superb quality food A great menu selection and great service too New owners have clearly done a huge amount in a short space of time- and more happening all the time, so can;t wait to see what next when I go again in a couple of weeks. Frankly it is worth the... More

My husband has asked me to add this review after his overnight stay at the hotel. He arrived at 2040 hours and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. There were 2 double rooms booked but the keys for one of the rooms was missing. Rather than make him wait, which he wouldn't have minded, the staff... More

We had two over night stays at the Lion Hotel as a stopping point on a journey to and from Yorkshire. There are good points and bad points about the hotel and I understand it is under new ownership and under a period of refurbishment. The good points were the superb customer service and friendliness of the staff, nothing too... More

The BP garage is 24 hour and some people think it's fun to rev their engines for fun. Also the member of staff that overslept on my visit was woken up by banging on the door so every one else was woken up as well. Food in the evening was good at a reasonably priced but the breakfast was cremated... More

Dropped in the other evening to see how the place looks under new ownership and following the refurbishment. The bar now has a facelift, nicely decorated, new furniture and carpeted. It was nice to see a good crowd in this place. Have walked past on numerous occasions before the facelift and the place always looked empty. The staff were friendly... More

This hotel is under new ownership and as a result we have been in to try the new menus. The food was delicious and service excellent especially from Roger for whom nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be going back again.

We popped in for an evening meal after a long hard day at work so can only comment on the bar and food. This was a place we used to avoid as it was a bit of a dump but having had some good reports on the efforts of the new owners we gave it a try. We didn't stick... More

The hotel looks as though its had, or is undergoing a refurb, with newish wallpaper in foyer & downstairs. Bar is quite stylish & pleasant. The back part is a new build & should be quieter, the front is an old inn. The first room we were offered had an awful continuous noise; then we noticed the industrial extractor in... More
