Stayed just the one night whilst visiting friends. Couldn't ask for a more accommodating friendly lady owner. Just a small b and b but with everything you could want. Exceptionally clean.and very cosy. Breakfast was delicious and served with a smile ! Brilliant value for money. Would'nt want to stay anywhere else now i"ve discovered this little gem.

We stayed here for a long weekend to visit Alton Towers for a couple of days. The accommodation was wonderful, we stayed in the 'Cottage'. The breakfast we brilliant too - cooked breakfast, cereal or a combination of the two. Tina also made us a packed lunch for a small fee (which was much cheaper than Alton Towers food!). I... More

I stayed here with my husband on our trip to Alton towers. I have no words to explain my pleasant, awesome experience there. To start with I've arrived late at hotel due to traffic but received a warm welcome. The room was very clean, just like my own room in our house. Had a very good night's sleep and breakfast... More

We stayed in Ashbourne for my niece's wedding at nearby Norbury Church. The Lilacs is a very short drive to the west of Ashbourne right on the A52 and has off road parking to the rear of the house. The accommodation is comfortable, clean and tidy - breakfasts were excellent too. Tina is a lovely, friendy landlady and nothing is... More

Stayed in the seperate 1 bedroom cottage for an alton towers break - the cottage was excellent value for money, very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. It felt very private, the bedroom overlooks the fields at the back and we both slept very well. Breakfast was lovely, served in the main house. Parking no problem and a good location -... More

Booked this on the strength of its trip advisor rating and reviews so expectations were high, but to our eye's this is a fairly bog standard b&b with a host doing little more than going through the motions. We'd stayed at the chained oak near alton towers the night before and the two experiences were like chalk and cheese. Lilacs... More

The Lilacs is a major credit to our host. We were welcomed in the car park as we arrived and shown straight up to our room, which was very clean with a spacious bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast was perfect everyday - cereal and yoghurt to start, then a cooked breakfast, with a choice of toast and eggs all the way... More

I would stay here again when going back to Alton Towers. It's a great location. The welcome was a lovely one from Tina. The room was lovely with personal extras such as mints, hot chocolate, pen, note pad and a pack of cards. The breakfast was amazing. xx

This is a lovely B&B base in the peaks. The self catering cottage is bijou, compact and well equipped. Ideal for a couple. Eventually it will be in need of a little refreshing/updating but that does not detract from it's cleverly equipped functionality making the most of a small spaces with good storage - "cute and dinky". By far the... More
