The Waverley is a nice hotel in the centre of Workington. With very friendly, helpful staff, the room was clean and comfortable. The cosy bar had very reasonable prices and good beer. And we enjoyed a fantastic cooked breakfast in the morning. An enjoyable stay.

First impression..2 girls and a youth in the flats opposite having an expletive filled row with each other..our room then overlooked their flat and the ongoing row. Awful reception..stair carpets with holes kicked through. The corridors to the rooms are claustrophobically cluttered with old fashioned shabby pictures and well past their sell by date carpets. Surrprisingly ok room though! Very... More

Stayed here for 1 very wet night in December (day before the floods) & turned out to be a nice little gem of a find.... yes the rooms maybe a bit basic 7 dated but they're clean & very comfy Even when I made the mistake of getting the breakfast times wrong & walked in half an hour late the... Made very welcome on arrival by managers Zoe and Janet. Room absolutely fine with tea and coffee making facilities. No lift so it keeps you fit if like us you are on 2nd floor! Excellent breakfast. Hotel well positioned for all areas of Workington with off street parking nearby.

Stayed here this week whilst working in the area, the hotel is nice and clean, our twin room was modern, food was nice and very reasonable priced the drinks are also very reasonable with a nice discount for over night guests. Lady at reception was very helpful, one of the female bar staff could learn to crack a smile though.... More

We stayed here whilst visiting family. The rooms were basic but nice and clean and had everything you needed. The staff here were so lovely and friendly, nothing was to much trouble for them. We had lunch here which was really nice and so reasonably priced. Buffet breakfast lovely, lots to choose from and the quality of food was great.... More

If you want a hot shower in the morning and a good nights sleep don't stay here. I can get over the outdated decor, depressing location and limited features - this is what you expect for £70 a night. What is inexcusable is that the basics aren't present, no hot water despite complaining, smokey rooms, disappointing food and terrible wifi.... More

I stayed here for one night for a work trip. The hotel is okay, nothing special. Staff are all friendly, the room was very clean with all mod cons, the hotel is clean, bar area with a pool table. Breakfast lacked fresh fruit?! Would stay here again if I ever had to come back to Cumbria for work but wouldn't... More

As I arrived on the pretty ordinary street where the hotel is, a couple of police officers were wrestling a man to the ground in the middle of the road. It was too late for second thoughts, as due to traffic and foul weather on the route from Leeds, what should have been a drive of about two and a... More
