On a bus holiday. Hotel was pleasant on first viewing. The owner very friendly. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and bed confortable. Food very good and plenty of it . Weather very poor but it is November. Entertainment also very enjoyable. Couple of problems, which weren't any faults of the hotel..eg.. Light in bathroom blew and a fuse... More

The Cumberland is dated, but also very clean, I would rate it the same as most sea side towns. I arrived after the previous hotel had got the date of my stay wrong and we're fully booked, they sent me here. The rooms are average in size, bathroom is large and generally smart. There are bits and pieces of wear... More

I believe this hotel is undergoing refurbishment at present,The staff work very hard to keep the guests happy. The food is quite good. The rooms are dated but I believe good value for money. There is regular entertainment at the hotel. There is a lift to the upper floors also there is coach parking available.please note there are some working... More

We have just returned from 5 days in the lake district 28/9/15 to 2/10/15. We stayed in the Cumberland Hotel in Workington. Never been to this town before but it looks alright, We were on an organised bus tour. Out every day on trips to Grasmere, Ullswater where we had a cruise, which was brilliant, Bowness, Penrith and Carlisle. we... More

Just come back from a weekend with a group of older friend I am 76 and we were very disappointed. The room was a good size but creaking floor boards from above made for a not to relaxing atmosphere. Reception and lounge areas were not welcoming and oddly set out. We could forgive all this but for the unfriendly staff... More

Just spent August bank holiday at this little hotel. Flowers everywhere, curtains, drapes and cushions. Also vases of fresh flowers. Chintzy maybe. Nice clean room with comfortable bed, full bathroom with plenty of hot water. Special mention for the food. Excellent. No problem with my G/F diet, just took my own bread for breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful.... More

went on a coach trip to the Lake District and stayed in this hotel. Although it is rather tired and dated the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful and the food was great. We had full English breakfast and three course meal each evening. Our room (127) was spacious and mainly very clean and was cleaned to a good standard... More

Its not the prettiest of hotels from the outside. Every effort is made to make your stay pleasant with fresh flowers in most aspects of the public areas. The food quality and service were great. The bedroom had tired furnishings and decor. The staff were accomodating for my dietary requirements, which is often a problem for some hotels. Plenty of... More
