Just returned from overnight stay at wheyrigg. Setting was quiet and peaceful. Staff were very pleasant and helpfull. Food was fab, good quality and lots of it. Accommodation basic but comfortable. Would definately return for food, overnight stay or both. Thanks for a very pleasant experience. Margaret and Allan.

We are a family of 5, kids aged 11, 9, 7. We stayed here as a stopover on the way up to Scotland. It is in the. Idle of nowhere which may not be for everyone. The reception is in the bar and we were welcomed by a lady whom, during the conversation never seemed to crack a smile and... More

We stayed one night whilst cycling Hadrian's Wall Cycleway. There appeared to be no one on reception when we arrived but someone standing nearby looked after us after I asked if he could help us. We were shown to our room - follow the sign for the toilets and straight on - didn't look promising. The room was odd. A... More

Stayed there for 3 nights, very nice, clean rooms, nice and quiet location, all the staff very helpful, would recommend staying there. Food was excellent too, lunch and tea, breakfast as well. All round well worth the money.

We stayed here as part during our Hadrians wall cycle. The hotel is friendly and clean but looking quite tired. The dinner was ok, a little bit 80s inspired with old school prawn cocktails but tasty none the less. A fair selection of beers but nothing special on the wine front. Rooms were nice but showers were not amazing. Landlords... More

Late decision to stay on the way back home after two days tough golf ( recommend a visit to Silioth Golf Course challenging but superb course ). The Hotel appeared a little dated, but the warmth of the welcome and continued service was most appreciated - even loaned a pair of readers to help me study the Menu. Room was... More

The decor is shabby and the food was average at best. The carpets, decoration, tables, crockery and cutlery etc were as old as Carlisle castle. Staff were ok, bit clumsy. Ordered off the Sunday lunch menu. Can tell that they trying to compete with the white heather (but failing miserably) food quality, quantity and value for money are a long... More

Just back from staying here. Room 10 was a family room that was spotlessly clean. Full family bathroom 2 bedroom and bed in living room. Meals were very reasonably priced and extremely delicious all home màde. Little bar area was very welcoming and nice to relax at. Camping facilities were also of a very high standard. Thank you for an... More
