Went to Whitehaven to see the brilliant Boomtown Rats-check them out if you get a chance. Anyway this guest house was well placed with parking in the street over the road and ok for the money. Owners were very friendly and showed a genuine interest in why we were visiting the area. Very handy for the lovely harbour area and... More

Despite the friendliness of the owners, it reflected the fact that it was up for sale. Not much had been spent on it recently and the decor and plumbing were dated. It is advertised as AA four-star accommodation but I wonder how long ago they got that. The breakfasts were good but then we were the mostly the only people... More

Stayed here on a few occasions over the last 18 months. On the surface all seems fine but fruit salad for breakfast reappeared day after day, butter ditto and was rancid, milk also sour. Detailed cleanliness in the bathrooms leaves something to be desired.

We stayed for 3 nights over the xmas period, we were made very welcome at a time of year other B&B's would be closed (even an offer to make us a christmas meal of we needed it !). Very large room in a lovely house, nice lounge to use (though we didn't have the opportunity to use it much) and... More

After a horrendous experience at another nearby B&B, I managed to get a room for the night at Glenfield. For the price of £65 for a single person, I honestly expected more. While the room and bed were comfortable, breakfast was average and I even had to ask for toast, receiving just 1 slice. I wasn't asked if I required... More

Two of us stayed here in October 2013 when cycling the Coast 2 Coast route. We had a great night's sleep in a lovely twin room. The lounge looked very relaxing although we didn't use it much - I would have liked to stay longer in fact. The landlady was very helpful with good advice for meals, breakfast at 7am... More

We stayed one night in Whitehaven but our time at the Glenfield was great. The room was clean and tidy, with a good bed and all the usual amenities (hairdryer, television, kettle, shampoo). Breakfast the following morning was really good and Margaret made us feel very welcome.

My husband and I arrived in Whitehaven without having booked accommodation so after trying several guest houses we arrived at Glenfield house, we were warmly greeted by Andrew and shown the last room that was available which I liked instantly, it was comfortable, warm, spacious and with the most luxurious towels. Andrew gave us a printout of places to eat in the... More

Thanks to Andrew and Margaret for making my stay so warm and welcoming. Added bonus was the great evening meals on offer. Great for a lone female business traveller. Hope to see you again sometime -c-to-c maybe?!!
