I stayed at this Hotel for the 2nd time in as many years after enjoying my stay here last year.I stayed with several friends, all of us visiting Whitehaven to watch Halifax Rugby League. Firstly I found all of the staff to be extremely efficient, caring and happy to do anything to help.Having a catering background I find this to be very... More

Booked in at 3:30. Very dated, so dated you sign a visitors book on arrival. No heating in the room and it's below zero outside. No lift, no help to get bags to the room. Tried to have a shower, no hot water. No bath, nowhere to put toiletries in bathroom not even a small shelf. Though make the most... More

Both my wife and my children are gluten And dairy intolerant and the staff at the Waverley made sure that this was taken into account each morning at breakfast by providing us with "free from" sausages and soya milk etc to ensure we all had a proper home cooked good old fashioned Cumbrian breakfast as a start to the day.... Stayed two nights, overall hotel v good, but could do with some investment as decor is a bit tired, bit noisy from the night club on the Saturday, and room a bit chilly late at night but breakfast was good and staff friendly, would stay again, hopefully some one will find the money to invest in double glazing to cut... Once again we had the pleasure of visiting this happy family hotel. The staff were, as always, so helpful and great company. This time we managed to be child-free, but they remembered our kids and sent them some fridge magnet souvenirs to take them, which was a lovely touch! We had a lovely double en suite for our visit, which... More

Stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights and ate in the bar restaurant on numerous occasions as working in the area. The room was a good sized room, nice and clean but very dated. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the owners will go out of their way to help you. The food in the... More

Ten of us stayed here before setting off on the C2C. Not all the rooms had showers or toilets but it was exactly what we needed. The staff were very pleasant and there was a secure area for bike lock up overnight (although you have to carry them through a small reception area, nto a problem for the owner though).... More

A group of us stayed here before setting off on the C2C and for that it is fit for purpose. OK - all the rooms don't have showers and none had toilets but in reality all we needed was a bed for the night for a nominal cost. The breakfast was good. I can't comment on the bar or other... More

Stayed here at the start of a C2C cycle ride. The location is great for the ride and the breakfast was reasonable. The rooms were not clean and the whole place needs a refit. The shared bathrooms need to be seen to be believed. When anyone ran a tap in a room (the rooms have sinks), the gurgling would then... More

Let's begin with the good news. The hotel is right in the centre of town, provides a very good breakfast, has friendly staff, and the bar, although rather a blast form the past, is inexpensive. However, the bad news is the hotel is shabby and somewhat claustrophobic. We felt that our small room, while clean and reasonably well equipped, (there... More
