Looked at web site and place looked lovely but on arrival place looked tired. Damp patches on some walls. Room was large with lovely antique furniture but found bed very low. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. The owner, Trevor is a nice man but you have breakfast in the kitchen whilst he makes it for you... More

Stayed here for one night on business and had heard mixed comments about this place. When I say mixed comments I want to make it clear that the mixed comments relate only to one particular room which I believe the owner, Trevor, describes as the 'suite'. As it happens I stayed in the 'suite' - so called because it has... More

I don't write reviews for hotels. I travel a lot on business and all I care about it having a bed, a shower and a breakfast.... Well, I feel obligated to Trevor to write a review for Lowther House. Like other reviewers, I am travelling on business as a woman on her own. Trevor collected me from the station and... More

The owner of this property has lived here all his life and now lets rooms as high-quality B&B. The bathrooms are very new and refurbished to a high standard. The towels are from the White Company. The breakfast included sausages that are served in Prince Charles household. The owner was very helpful, driving us to and from the station and... More

We were staying in Whitehaven for Whitehaven Live (the Boomtown Rats were fantastic!) so lots of places were already booked. We always use Trip Advisor to choose where to stay and found Lowther House – a lovely luxury B & B. Some mixed reviews but often the case so we thought we’d give it a go. Contrary to some reviews... This place is just perfect, what a find!! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Lowther House and would highly recommend. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard and extremely spacious but most of all they are very very comfortable. We had a wonderful breakfast with all locally sourced products, even the marmalade was home made. Our host Trevor... More

I had driven for far too long so to struggle to find this place despite sat nav was a bit wearing. Up and down Inkerman Terrace I went until I worked out exactly where Lowther House is situated and where I could park. Directly opposite but it is a busy street But do not let this dissuade you from staying... More

What a charming place! Don't judge it on first impressions. Trevor has made this Georgian house into a beautiful boutique B and B. The rooms are stunning and the bathroom is spacious and decorating to a very high standard. It is not your typical B and B in that you are served breakfast in the kitchen with everything cooked to... Getting accommodation in whitehaven at festival time is near impossible but a friend from whitehaven booked us into the Lowther House for 3 nights over the weekend and what a great experience it was from when we first arrived our host Mr Trevor Lloyd greeted us with drinks and homemade cake, our rooms were large and gracefully decorated with a...
