Stayed here night before C2C. If arriving by train you need to stay on past Whitehaven. The train staff will stop 2 mins after Whitehaven at another station on request and from here it is 5 mins. IT is 5 minute max downhill roll to the start of the harbour start of the C2C Slightly outside the main centre of... More

Stayed here night prior to c2c ride. Good price, welcome service, secure bike area storage and good food. Group of 6 so only expected a place just to get head down but pleasantly surprised at staff welcome and service. Even kindly returned my phone charger in post on leaving it there.

Loved staying here. Treated very well by the staff in particular Alan who went out of his way to provide me with a packed lunch as I was leaving very early, much before breakfast, on the day of departure which was enjoyed immensely on my long journey home. Room was excellent with a very comfortable bed, immaculate bathroom and superb... More

Stayed here for a night prior to starting the c2c, and while the position of the hotel and the food was fine it was like entering a time warp. The hotel was very 1970s maybe early 80s at a push with the rooms reminding me a little of an old persons room. It wasn't the cleanest, there was a suspect... More

Stayed here with 4 friends one Thursday night before our C2C cycle ride the following morning. There is secure bike storage, however it is outdoors so be warned if leaving anything that can be damaged by the elements on your bike. We decided to eat at the hotel and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it, most opting for pasta and... More

The new owners are obviously carrying out renovation work at present. We were made extremely welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast! Would recommend The Chase to anyone staying in Whitehaven.

Just returned from the Chase and was pleased with the attitude of all staff from reception, bar cleaning etc; all greeted with a smile or cheery smile. The food was excellent from the perfect breckfast to the tasty evening menu. It is obvious the owners are trying to update and brighten the hotel, which is perfectly clean and welcoming. These older... More

Perfectly adequate small town hotel. Uninspired decor and all slightly dated - but clean, and friendly staff. Our room was a large, top floor one (3 flights and no lift). On the one hand, it was light and airy, on the other I could have wished for curtains thick enough to keep out dawn's early. Best feature was breakfast, which... More
