It was that time of year once again for my wife and I to go to Ulverston for the Chrismas Dickensian Festival. We stayed at Virginia House for two nights again and it was fantastic. Our hosts Ken and Brenda made the stay very welcoming and relaxing. The rooms were warm, comfortable and clean, with everything you needed close at... More

Friendly hosts. Clean and quiet rooms. Free wifi available. For diner, we tried is a very good Indian restaurant across the road xxxx. Fantastic breakfast selection (Lots of fresh fruits and very tasty veggie sausages). Sweet little garden available for guest use at the back of the hotel.

After being placed here by my University, being an apprehensive student I didn't expect much... Ken and Brenda (the hosts) completely and utterly blew me away, it was a year ago that I stayed and yet I'm still chatting about my stay now! After settling in, the hosts didn't rest to ensure that I felt completely at home somewhere so... More

My wife and I stayed again this year for two nights during the 'Dickensian Christmas' weekend. Once again we could not fault such a warm and welcoming atmosphere on arrival. Ken, the host, made us feel relaxed and at home, after a long and unavoidable delay in our journey. The room was again very well equipped, warm and cosy. The... More

We stayed for one night in this lovely, friendly and very comfortable guest house. Our room on the top floor was warm and cosy. The breakfast in the morning had the best range of fresh fruit (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries) we've come across in a B&B. The full English was generous in size and perfectly cooked. You can unload... More

Located near the top of the market square on Queen Street, and only a short stagger from the Farmers Arms - probably the best pub in Ulverston - Virginia House is a great B&B. Warm room (we stayed in October) with comfortable bed, tea/coffee making facilities, small bathroom but functional, with shower gel etc provided. Good hearty breakfast, good value... More

I have stayed here for three weeks thus far (2 weeks alone, and one week with my husband, and will stay another week alone). The first thing you notice outside is the incredibly beautiful flowers. There is a wonderful garden in the back, too. The hosts, Ken and Brenda, have been unbelievably helpful and considerate with whatever question or problem... More

We stayed for 3 nights in July. This Hotel is a real find. It has a great location in the heart of the picturesque Lakeland market town of Ulverston. The town has many independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, providing many opportunities to browse and explore. As for the Hotel, it definitely has the friendliest owner of anywhere I've ever... More

We were dancing at the Furness Folk Festival again last weekend and returned to this hotel for the second time. Ken and Brenda couldn't have done more for us. When we returned from a hot day's dancing on Saturday, we were encouraged to cool off in the wonderful garden. Breakfast was superb - everyone talks about the excellent range of... More
