This is our second stay in this wonderful family run hotel. Once again the breakfasts were plentiful and hot with a fabulous selection of friuit and berries together with the traditional full English. Rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious and shower was hot and powerful. Looking for another excuse to stay there again soon.

Just finished a week of staying here.Lovely breakfasts (especially the full English) brilliant hosts and a nice room - I would highly recommend Virginia house to anyone. Very pretty setting too in the market town of Ulverston.

Our friends and I stayed at Virginia House for one night last week. The owner Ken could not do enough for us. The room was lovely, cosy and very welcoming. The jewel in the crown was the breakfast which was first class. I have never seen such an array of fresh fruit at breakfast before. We would definitely stay here... More

Had to stay overnight in Ulverston. My 1st choice hotel recommended this as an alternative as they were full. What a great recommendation. The owners are a middle aged couple who couldn't bend backwards enough to accommodate you. Room nice and clean with comfortable bed and ensuite' facilities and the usual tea making and tv. Breakfast consisted of either or... More

It was that time of year once again for my wife and I to go to Ulverston for the Chrismas Dickensian Festival. We stayed at Virginia House for two nights again and it was fantastic. Our hosts Ken and Brenda made the stay very welcoming and relaxing. The rooms were warm, comfortable and clean, with everything you needed close at... More

Friendly hosts. Clean and quiet rooms. Free wifi available. For diner, we tried is a very good Indian restaurant across the road xxxx. Fantastic breakfast selection (Lots of fresh fruits and very tasty veggie sausages). Sweet little garden available for guest use at the back of the hotel.

After being placed here by my University, being an apprehensive student I didn't expect much... Ken and Brenda (the hosts) completely and utterly blew me away, it was a year ago that I stayed and yet I'm still chatting about my stay now! After settling in, the hosts didn't rest to ensure that I felt completely at home somewhere so... More

My wife and I stayed again this year for two nights during the 'Dickensian Christmas' weekend. Once again we could not fault such a warm and welcoming atmosphere on arrival. Ken, the host, made us feel relaxed and at home, after a long and unavoidable delay in our journey. The room was again very well equipped, warm and cosy. The... More

We stayed for one night in this lovely, friendly and very comfortable guest house. Our room on the top floor was warm and cosy. The breakfast in the morning had the best range of fresh fruit (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries) we've come across in a B&B. The full English was generous in size and perfectly cooked. You can unload... More
