I have eaten in the farmers many times in the last 3 years, as it is on my way home from where I stay in the lakes. The food has been consistently good. On August 20th, myself and three friends eat here after a days walking on the Coniston fells. The staff are friendly. I had the beef and mushroom... More

Was a bit apprehensive at paying £35 for a single room and breakfast but needn't have worried. This place is charming. The actual bedroom was a bit 70s and quite small but had everything that I needed. My room didn't have an ensuite but the shared bathroom on the floor was acceptable. Friendly welcome when we arrived and all the... More

Lovely clean rooms, if slightly basic. Water flow in the shower was a bit iffy but nice and hot! The evening meal was delicious and reasonably priced! Breakfast was nice, although a bigger continental selection would have been nice as the cooked breakfast was quite heavy. Overall a nice weekend break!

We stopped here for lunch on the way back from Ulverston. The staff were friendly but the interior decor looks like a country pub kit from the 1970s (including swirly carpet). We all had the burgers, which were prepared on the premsies and thus were available rare (unusually). However, when the burgers arrived (despite no mention on the menu) they... More

A return visit for us (pub only) and once again not disappointed. Friendly and efficient staff and meal was good. A fairly comprehensive menu was available including a varied selection of desserts. The ambience of the place was good. Prices were middling. Would recommend on our two experiences.

Modern comfortable and pleasant restaurant. Four of us had a light lunch - soup, sandwiches, spring rolls. All excellent and very tasty. Well presented with friendly efficient service. Would like to return for a main meal. Next time in the Lakes... Highly recommended.

My family of 8 adults visited the farmers arms for my mums 50th birthday as we were staying in the lakes for the weekend. The food was ok, quite expensive for what we got though! Our huntsman's platter was supposed to come with a selection of cheeses that we had to ask for (then the cheese came out at the... More

Popped in for a meal, not staying. Great pies, generous portions, chips were perfect, crisp outside & fluffy inside. Veg done & served just right, delicious 'sliced potatoes' a variation on a theme of Dauphinoise. Great variety of seating - we chose the sofas with view to hills as I had to rest my sprained ankle on the sofa, (I... More
