Angus was extremely accommodating and friendly without being intrusive. We were weary London souls who needed a peaceful, relaxing break, and Candlewyck didn't disappoint. We are a gay couple, and Angus was refreshingly free from judgement and prejudice, no hassle, no raised eyebrows. The very spacious room is separate from the farm house, so privacy is assured. The breakfast is... more

We stayed at Candlewyck for two nights, and what a treat! We were very impressed with the hospitality of Angus and Sam, who were welcoming, friendly and interesting. It was a delight to stay somewhere so peaceful, quiet and looking out onto nearby countryside. It's a private little get-away, you feel like you're staying in a self-catering apartment, though with... more

We telephoned on the spurr of the moment to see if there was a vacancy for the next day, we were told yes no problem. We spent a lovely day in Bowness seeing the sights, which I might add were beautiful. For December we were treated to a cold but sunny and blue sky day. we made our way to... more

Just spent a weekend in Candlewycks barn conversion, very nice indeed. The appartment is lovely, loads of room, and a fantastic shower to wake you up in the morning. Lovely views and the hosts are as friendly as you are ever likely to find. Bed is very comfortable and breakfast in the morning was very high quality. Its an expensive... more

This is on the edge of Ulverston but looking out over lovely countryside. The barn accomodation is really nice...attention to detail with chocolates on the bed and a good selection of DVDs. And the bed is indeed very comfortable. Our host Angus was also very friendly. When I wrote my original review I did say that the stay was almost... more

Great room, plenty of space to stretch out, as with other visitors comments the breakfast was superb. Christine from the farm could not do enough to help and made us feel very welcome. Do not expect anything great from Ulverston or Barrow, but a fantastic base for exploring the south lakes. more

We had two nights in Ulverston, and found that it was a great base for exploring the Lake District. We were also very pleased with our accommodation: Candlewyck offers a comfortable, clean room with more than enough space, a high-pressure shower, and the best bed I've slept on in years! The barn is at the edge of Ulverston, so the... more

Absolutley Fabulous! This B&B is without doubt the best and most comfortable I have ever been to. Hosts were very friendly and the suite had everything you could possibly ask for. They also make a fantastic breakfast. I shall be staying again. Josh and Sarah more

Booked this B & B purely on the comments from previous guests. We were not disappointed. The accommodation is excellent, the surroundings peaceful and the location is close to many tourist attractions. Perfect for a short break in the lake district more

Just back from our wonderful stay and we have only one complaint....we had to leave! This is how B&B's should be, a world away from the old-style seaside resort with scary landladies! This was much closer to a 5* hotel experience. Having had the opportunity to stay in a number of 5* hotels all over the world I would rate... more
