We stayed the night before our Coast to Coast walk and we're given a friendly welcome even though we arrived very early. We were made tea and homemade shortbread on arrival. We ate downstairs off the Oriental menu which was absolutely delicious. The staff were all very courteous, friendly and attentive. The room had a ladies touch with powerful hair... More

My boyfriend and I visited Platform 9 as a bit of a treat on Saturday 22nd February. The restaurant wasn't especially busy when we arrived however it got busier over time. We were seated in one of the 'booths' as requested which was quite intimate although not very warm. The decor was tasteful, and it was nice to see the... More

Didn't stay here but dined on two consecutive nights. On both nights we chose to eat in the railway carriage (which isn't actually a carriage but is certainly fitted out with railway carriage style seats and lamps). The menu offers a varied selection of food Thai, Italian, Chinese I note from other reviews this is not always welcome by some... More

Really convenient location right next to the station. The restaurant was closed as it was a Monday but was given good advice on where to eat and generally made very welcome. The room (flying scotsman) was well decorated and the bed comfortable but I did struggle a bit with the sloping ceilings and complicated shower. Breakfast was generous and tasty.... More

Stayed here for the start of the Coast to Coast. Arrived to fins it couldn't be closer to the railway station - a bit apprehensive to find the restuarant packed with a large party of walkers & clearly a busy night with locals. Room (Orient Express)was a bit more compact than it looks on the website but comfortable. Despite being... More

Comfortable accommodation for our three night stay and acted as a good base for exploring the area. Louisa went out of her way to be helpful and make you feel welcome. Breakfast was huge and of excellent quality, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. Ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, great service and excellent food , Cameron the... More

We didn't stay here but booked up for an evening meal. We had the most expensive item on the menu (Steak) but it was very poor value for money, the plates were very small and the meal did not even fill them. We believe this has changed hands in the last month or so, lets hope the quality/quantity does not... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 days in August and had a wonderful time. The village of St Bees is very pretty, with a lovely beach and close to lots of attractions, but the whole trip was made by our experiences at Platform 9. Not only was our room lovely, with a fantastic bed, but the attidude and... More
