Stayed here for two nights. pros: great location, friendly staff, super fab breakfast, looks like a pretty decent boozer. Cons: check-in arrangements unclear. Waited at reception for ages to eventually be told by a customer that I should go to the bar...? The noise (big con) :( There was lots of noise in the afternoon when I arrived (raised voices... We ate in this busy hotel/pub on the first night of our C2C walk. It was busy with locals and holiday makers and clearly booking a table in advance is a good idea. We had a good meal ( one lamb shank, one stuffed chicken breast, plus 2 cheese and biscuits ) with a couple of drinks each and the... More

Four of us stayed here at the end of our bicycling holiday in Cumbria. St Bees is a wonderful location with plenty to do and see. The hotel was comfortable and everyone was very friendly. We had an excellent dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Our bikes were locked up overnight and we were able to leave a car in... More

We arrived at half past eight and they finished serving food at nine. Although we received good service and great food we felt a as though we were an inconvenience. Other than that it was a great stay. The owner in the morning was a delight to meet. He made a beautiful breakfast and gave us some useful information regarding... More

Booked in here to commence my Coast to Coast walk. Check-in was easy. The owner/manager Allan was friendly and took time to talk to me at dinner, pointing out navigational tips to avoid 'cartographic anomalies' on the trail. The food at dinner [lasagne] was superb, as was the breakfast. The bedroom was above average for an "inn with rooms", the... More

Stayed one night, enjoyed the evening meal, menu was definitely a cut above the average pub fare. Nice room, but couldn't get the shower to run hot, luckily the room also had a bath. Breakfast was also very good. Good service from everybody there.

Food was amazing, staff friendly and very helpful. Bar staff are very professional and informative. Garden area is perfect. Dogs and children made to feel very welcome. Great choice of beers, wine and local ales.

On a recent visit to the Manor House, my friends and I were disgusted at the customer service received by one member of staff (the taller shaven headed bar man) on duty 4th July, at around 5 o'clock. My husband, who does not drink alcohol, had a headache; in all hotels which we have visited previously, they have had paracetamol... More

We are very surprised with your comments but we will attempt to answer them to the best of our ability. 1. We are not allowed by law to dispense any medicine from behind the bar. 2. The bar manager insists that he certainly did not intend to be rude, and he is sure that he gave you an answer explaining... More

Alan is the host/proprieter of Manor. It is a beautiful place and it is immaculate and spotless throughout. The menu is varied and caters for all and is very well priced. The food is well presented ,the portions are generous and excellent . Alan always says we aim to please and indeed he does. Not only does he aim to... More
