The owner was very helpful as we did not have our luggage. Helped us out and volunteered to give a ride to a larger city to get hiking gear. . Wifi was good and rooms comfortable. Close to the start of the coast to coast walk and to the Main Street and pubs

We had great luck finding this gem at the last minute - dog friendly, next to the train station and the pubs. The room was actually more of an apartment, and had everything we could need. Breakfast was filling and there was plenty of it - clearly they ensure people starting the Coast to Coast don't begin on an empty... More

This is a great B&B for starting you C2C hike. We met some of the folks that we'd continue to see along the way. The house is right by the railway station and the proprietors are great at volunteering information that you might need, making reservations, etc. We didn't actually get the room that we booked since it had just... A very friendly, accommodating host, comfortable rooms, ok bathrooms, good free wifi, very nice breakfast. Excellently located for start of Coast to Coast. I will go back when I do it again and would happily recommend.

Arrived here exhausted after a flight from Australia and then a drive from Manchester to start part of the Coast to Coast Walk. Great welcome from Carole despite delays in arriving and this was very much appreciated after a long 24 hours. Our room had very comfortable beds and a renovated ensuite bathroom. There was an extensive range of tasty,... More

I stayed here once before and it is as charming as ever. It's near a few pubs, the railway, and on the way to the start of the Coast to Coast trail. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is terrific and it just couldn't be more comfortable.

Stonehouse Farm is a lovely B&B close to the train station. The friendly welcome and the great breakfast puts your mind and body in a great place as you begin your adventure. As I was traveling as a single, my room was up in a converted attic type room, but it was still a lovely place to stay.

Back again to our favorite place to start another c2c! As always, a wonderful stay with Carole, Tony, Sarah and Jo. Great place, great location, and this September some stellar weather. Wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else and when we leave can't wait until we return the next year.

Stayed two nights at the start of the C2C walk, August 2014, Carole and Tony went out of their way to accommodate my every need, especially the washing service. The family all help out here and there passion to please was evident.
