We had dinner at the Dalesman Country Inn whilst staying overnight in Sedbergh on the Dalesway. Four of us shared 3 starters, all had a main course and including drinks the bill came to just over £100. Food was very good and service okay apart from when it came to asking and paying for the bill which took ages. We... More

Visiting a family member and our 1st time in the area it was hard to know where to stay. Did a lot of research and found the Dalesman. Not disappointed , the research was worthwhile. Quaint inn with lots of atmosphere and character. We had 2 breakfasts and one meal and the food was superb home cooking excellent portions. The... More

I stayed in Room 4, a spacious double with double aspect to the main street and a welcome settee to lounge on. The windows are fitted with secondary glazing but as you are above the main entrance to the premises, the smoking area and benches for al fresco drinkers, it could probably be an uncomfortably noisy spot on occasion. However,... More

We stayed one night while walking the Dales Way. It's a high quality gastro pub with rooms. The evening meal was very nice with a good selection of food and a range of wines to suit most tastes and pockets. Our room overlooked the Main Street and had two window seats so was good to just sit and relax. The... More

We were booked into this hotel by our Dales Way Walk Tour operator, and stayed in Room 2. The room itself was a good size with a very large bed, however we did notice the buses pulled up right outside the window and patrons were drinking just below us outside. The real issue for us was that the pub has... More

As a walking group, we were judging the accommodation and meals on Quality, Service, Ambience and Value for money with the following scores: Accommodation: 3, 2, 4, 4, 3, 2, 4, 2 and 4. Some of us stayed in the Pub which was OK but very expensive and the others stayed in the Cottage which could only be described as... More

Very poor value for money. A weeks walking on the Dales Way and this was the worst and dearest accommodation all week. We had to walk through all the junk and dirty washing to get to our room. Handles coming off drawers, no wardrobe and very little in the way of shower gel etc. When asking for smoked salmon for... More

Stayed here in early June and we both enjoyed our stay. We ate in the bar and the food and service was very good. The purple room which we stayed was large, clean and had everything you need, but looked tired in the bathroom area and could do with a little TLC. We would stay again.

We stayed on fourth night of our Dales Way walk. Excellent location. Lovely restaurant and excellent food and customer service. Great veggie option. Soup was lovely. Chips divine. We stayed in Room 5 - Double & Sofa bed, was okay for walking purposes, very small bed, a bit uncomfortable with no window, only skylights, but had all the facilities required.... More

Went for a birthday meal, was told there would be half an hour wait which seemed reasonable. Was shown to a table then ignored. Had to go to the bar for the drinks which they were slow to serve. Sat waiting to have our order taken and overheard one of the staff tell other customers that the normal chef wasn't... More
