Why go to heaven when you can visit Dent in the Yorkshire Dales and enjoy a "Tea and a bun" at the "Stone Close Tea Room" what bliss, whilst the building goes back way in time the service is bang up to date, polite, friendly and very welcoming on top of that the prices all round were reasonable considering it... Making the journey from Sedbergh to Dent, we were in need of refreshment (as the world and his wife seemed to be coming the other way on a single carriageway road) and also £1 to have the right change for the parking meter. The owner kindly lent us the £1 so after parking we returned. This is a delightful place... More

My friend and I arrived at Dent out of the back of a farmers' trailer, soaking wet and with a damaged bike and bruised and shaken lady rider. We had started our first day of our cycle tour of the Dales in wet weather and when coming down a steep hill off "the tops", two miles short of our bed... More

We stayed for three nights in this wonderful B & B. Cosy, clean and quiet. Wonderful breakfast and great food. A lovely attention to details all round. Diana and Melvyn, the warm welcoming couple that run this place, made our stay a memory for life. The village and its surroundings are extremely picturesque and there are many lovely walks to... We enjoyed an excellent light lunch here. We ate simple food but fresh and well cooked. We ate Welsh rarebit and Wensleydale ploughmans taking advantage of the famous local cheeses. The cakes were particularly good, a moist and flavourful carrot cake and sticky toffee pudding, served with a crunchy toffee sauce and with local Dales icecream. The cafe is attractive... More

Possibly the best bubble & squeak I've had. And what a location! Just off the cobbled street, and through an old low door, you enter a cafe that time forgot. If you're ever in Dent you can't go wrong with this place. Tasty, well presented food that is a real surprise in a country cafe, a wife variety of perfectly... More

We've visited Stone Close a number of times before with our Flatcoated Retriever and had lunch when we've previously stayed in Dent on holiday (Spring 2013 & Winter 2013). Firstly, the food is lovely, homely and filling. Portions perfect, quality great and selection ideal. The cakes are yummy and moist. This time however we stayed for 3 nights. We had... More

This small and very cosy place is on the main street in Dent (superb & characterful little Dales village). It is quiet and peaceful, the cakes are excellent, and the accommodation delightful and charming, as are the owners! The rooms are of modest size but very comfortable - one has en-suite and is lovely, the others share facilities but that... More

We stayed here when Janet ran the shop and B&B on New Years Eve on 2 occasions and it was quite magical. The open fire and the feeling that you are in a Charles Dickens novel. Breakfast excellent and the location is just perfect. The downstairs room is by far the superior of the three as it has its own... More
