We called in for morning coffee and What a charming place. Loved The Olde Worlde interior and very friendly staff. We called in on recommendation and we weren,t at all disappointed. We had just been for a walk to Cautley Spout and what a lovely relaxing place after a long walk.

We had sunday lunch of local roast beef and all the trimings . We regulary eat here when staying in Appleby. The food is excelent and plentyfull and the service is friendly. It is a very unsual setting. The building dates back to the 17th century and was a temperance inn . It was left to the National Trust on... More

This hotel only has 2 rooms - one with a double and the other a twin. Both rooms were nicely furnished. We had the double, the bed was not so comfy, the bathroom was really small. There is a lovely touch on the tea & coffee with homemade biscuits. There is no TV in the room, no radio, no internet,... More

We went here to celebrate my sisters birthday. It was lovely to first sit in the snug next to the open fire. Then we went through to the dining area which was clean and tidy. The food was amazing!!!! The staff were fantastic and very attentive. Would i go again??? Defiantly...

Had lunch in this delightfully situated inn with views to the wonderful Howgill Fells. Renowned for its ham and ages for many many years this was what had to be ordered. Half portions are available which was a good idea for lunch! Came back for a pot of tea and ice cream a few days later. Lovely setting, great food... More

Cosy and comfortable room. Nice log and coal fire in old Inn room. Very good library of local books for guests staying in accommodation. Food a little disappointing. Orange juice in jug at breakfast had gone sour.

We went for Sunday lunch which was luckily just after a bid rush of diners. The place is fantastically old and quaint. The food was superb...proper home style cooked food with large portions. The location is great with rolling hills and sheep straight out of the back windows of the dining room. Would recommend anyone to visit although the dining... More

Having been driving round the Yorkshire dales with friends we headed back via Sedbergh. We were hungry and the rain was lashing down. Then we saw the Cross Keys. There were no cars in the car park but we asked if they did food and the answer was YES! We sat in the old worldly sitting area warmed by a... More

We took shelter in the Cross Keys on a very wet and windy day when the warms fires and hot tea and coffee were very welcome. Understand the Sunday lunch is very popular so we'll book next time we're in the area.

We had been to The Cross Keys on recommendation but only for tea. This time we stayed overnight and enjoyed a very good dinner, having remembered this is a temperance inn and brought our own wine. The location is quite remote in the less visited Howgill Fells to the east of the Lake District and the inn is beautifully located... More
