Recently had a meal here with friends and was absolutely delighted with the food, but more importantly the efficient and friendly service by the staff, it really made our evening and will definatley be returning, it was the first time we had been and were very impressed by the atmosphere and warm welcome of the staff. Would highly recommend.

My mother, a close family friend and myself recently went for an evening meal at The Wheatsheat. We had a nice welcome and they were extremely busy (it was a Saturday evening) and somewhat rowdy around the Reception area downstairs. We were offered a table upstairs which was very pleasant and quieter than downstairs. Service started off OK but then... More

A workmate recommended this venue to me, it so happened it was whilst the 'penny menu' was on which was a bonus! On arrival at 7pm (we had booked earlier in day) my Husband & I were shown to a nicely presented table with a window view. Soon after we arrived the other reserved tables were soon filled to full... The Wheatsheaf feels very friendly, with a nice atmosphere and is obviously very popular as when we arrived quite early in the evening, many of the tables were reserved. We chose from the 'penny' menu and although the portions weren't huge ,there was enough for us and the food was well cooked and presented and was very good. The staff were... More

Six of us all enjoyed a variety of lunch menu choices and a few pints of excellent local ale from the bar. Good food and service, warm friendly atmosphere, easy access and parking, and a pleasant outlook across the lane to the church. Very peasant.

Went for dinner, we were located in the upstairs room. Pleaseant surroundings but it felt like out of sight out of mind as far as the staff were concerned. Took nearly 20 minutes for them to ask if we wanted a drink, another 10 mins to take our food order. Food arrived and was ok, but staff forgot additional orders... More

My self and partner live in london and have come to the lakes for the jubilee weekend. We had an amazing meal at the wheatsheaf. The service and the food really was second to none. We both had a starter, main and pudding. I can honestly say the white choc cheesecake was divine. A big thank you to all the... More

We stayed two nights,16/17 March,2012. Nice rooms in keeping with the history of the Hotel, don't expect boutique rooms. We have stayed on three occasions in three different rooms, all rooms are clean with all the accepted add ons,t.v, hairdryer,tea/coffee making facilities, all en suite, the usual acceptable 'norm'.We dined in the hotel on both nights. Monday to Friday the hotel has an offer... More

We went with friends for a reunion meal on a Saturday night. The pub was very busy but we were well looked after by the staff. The menu offered a decent choice and the service was good. Pleasant dining area with a welcoming log fire made for an enjoyable evening.
