Visited yesterday early evening for a meal , they found us a table straight away and took our drink order and left us with a menu , however 35 mins later hadn't taken out food order .Elderly lady on table next to us had ordered steak well done but when it came still had blood visible so she sent it... I had Sunday lunch at this cosy village pub last week and it was surprisingly good. Both children (2 and 6) enjoyed their food - the children's menu is varied and my little girl was very happy to have scrambled egg on a muffin for her Sunday lunch. My husband's gammon was not the hugest portion but it was really... More

We called into this lovely little find, just off the M6 on our way home, Im pleased we did. We werent sure they would fit us in as there had been the annual village Duck Race, so the restaurant and bar were very busy. We were welcomed straight away and politely asked if we had called in for a drink... More

Ate here only, dinner. The inn is well known throughout the area and has a traditional feel to it. I remember it from over 40 years ago! Warm reception and nice areas to dine in. There were a few decent draught beers. The menu was limited and offered a bargain penny pudding. Our starters were only average. and the same... More

We had called in a couple of months ago and had a few drinks. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the menus look enticing so we decided to eat again when in the area. Beer excellent but the food from the Penny menu was disappointing. The black pudding starter and pate starters both lacked finesse and were served on... More

We visited with a friend mid week and it was initially quiet although it did fill up later on. The service was with a smile and we had no quibbles with the service. The menu had a good selection and the food came quickly and it was very good. There is plenty of parking in a car park just across... More

The Wheatsheaf is a very pleasant country pub just off the main A6, the staff are generally friendly and helpful. The food is good and the"penny menu" is good value. A penny for a starter and penny for sweet while paying full price for the main course. We visit regularly when in the area.

We stayed two nights. We have stayed and eaten here many times over the last 30 years. The welcome at 7.30 on a Saturday night was okay, but certainly not overwhelming. The room (Leighton) was good, warm and clean. Dinner was disappointing. My steak was fine but the fish was overcooked. The wine we ordered was confused by the waiter.... More
