Had a wonderful stay at The Wheatsheaf, on a trip to visit family in the area, and will return again before long. The setting is delightful, and a real old world village feel. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. It has a real character about it, and felt very homely. The room was clean,... More

We booked in for one night in order to attend a local event early the next morning- how pleased we were that it was not for longer. We were given a room overlooking the churchyard, words almost fail me, it was tired and dingy, peeling wallpaper, stained walls carpets and ceiling, dirty paintwork, dirty shower screen and grey grouting in... Superb, we booked this hotel via Last Minute, have travelled past The Wheatsheaf on many occasions without knowing it was there and we now wish we had known about it previously. The welcome, by Richard, who I believe to be the owner, was very welcoming and informative, the building inside and out is lovely, the village is peaceful, the guests... More

Met friends here today for lunch, as we have on a few previous occasions. We waited a long time for the food once our order had been taken and, though my food was tasty it was quite a meagre portion. I had the tuna cheese melt with salad, supposedly on a muffin; Unsure what it was on but nothing like... More

My husband and I started our honeymoon here. We wanted a couple of days peace and quiet with good food and that is what we got! The man that was running the hotel couldn't do enough for us. All of the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great. The food was amazing.....we stayed on Tuesday and Wednesday night. We... More

We - small family 2 young boys, had a great stay, was a Wednesday service and food was first class. Was particularly impressed with the childrens food, freshly cooked large portions. The room was clean and spacious. Our room was facing church, the view is beautiful, yes as some comments have said you hear the church bells, but it never... More

We had a nice night here but unfortunately the chef was off and food took over an hour to come, with no explanation for delay, or bread to keep us going. When the food came it was great, but the delay was far too long. Chef is off Tuesday and Wednesday apparently, so check before you go. Rooms are fine.... More

4 of us had a very enjoyable meal on the Penny offer where you can have a desert or a sweet for 1p. This was our 4th visit with having a holiday home nearby but were sad to see the offer had changed to only one free sweet or starter instead of both. This added £17 to the bill, not... More

Ate at the Whaetsheaf whilst on holiday in the are. Nice pub in pretty village. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was ok but for the price portions were on the small side. Chicken with melted cheese anda bacon topping came with 4 small new potatoes cut into slices nothing else was served with it. We were a bit dissapointed... More
