Ok value, nice bar, but the food on the main menu is appalling. Bap for Burger wasn't defrosted properly, Salad had seen better days probably about a week ago, and Other main was swimming in gravy to hide the appalling contents. It's a shame because the breakfast was good in the morning. Room was average for £70 and the shower... More

Picked hotel based purely on proximity to Kendal with available beds. It was clean and pleasant, Staff were all curteous and price was fair (£65 for double with B&B). So no complaints, but wasn't to my personnal taste in terms of decor etc. Not really a critism of the hotel, just a statement of my preferences. Would happily stay again,... More

Stopped here for 3 nights during the October half term. We had booked one of the family rooms which was clean, comfortable and although situated over the bar area was quiet and just perfect accommodation for our short and very last minute break. Unlike most hotels the beds were extremely comfortable and the beds for the children were proper beds... More

Was really happy with my stay here over the weekend. The room was very cosy and comfortable and had everything you could possibly want - comfy bed, desk, tea/coffee and kettle, nice hot shower, spacious environment, an amazing tasty breakfast, and the option to order bar food and drinks and consume them in your room. The hotel is very easy... More

Friendly welcome on arrival and a lovely spacious room that was clean, quiet and very comfortable. Bar meals were excellent quality and very good value for money. The atmosphere in the bar was good and we were made to feel very welcome, the staff made everything easy for us. Breakfast was cooked to order, good selection and we didn't have... More

Visit the Cross Keys every few months, just to get a pint and a reminder of good customer service. Basically you will not get the latter here because of the miserable manager and some of his staff. It's worth a visit just to see how bad they are to make you appreciate how good other places can be.

Had a short stay in the cottage, a self contained two bed, lounge, kitchen and bathroom (bath and shower) self catering part of the overall building. All very clean and had cooker, microwave and fridge so you could prepare meals. However, the price included full breakfast which was very good and the hotel serves decent quality pub meals in the... Stayed at the Cross Keys on our way to/from Portsmouth. Hotel room is clean and pleasant, shower could be slightly more powerful. Stayed in Room 1 which is not much good if you want the window open as the contents of the window box will be in there before you can blink. Breakfast was lovely. Good value all in all,... More
