Stayed for 2 nights Bed and Breakfast. A lovely inn a little off the beaten track but worth it. Stunning views despite the weather and must be gorgeous in the summer. Room was exceptionally clean, comfortable bed, ample wardrobe space for the 2 of us, pretty decor and a fabulous shower in the bathroom. Great selection for breakfast, and cooked... More

Just returned from another wonderful 4 night stay at the Three Shires Inn. Cosy room (with bath!), great food and local beers, and always a warm and friendly welcome. Great party atmosphere on New Year's Eve too over an excellent six course meal which seems to get better every year. The residents' lounge is lovely with its real fire and... More

Really not very good food at the pub. Expensive and about the quality of 1980 pub service. Not nice at all. Its not surprisong that the bar was empty when just down the road at Elterwater it was heaving..

Stayed for 4 nights whilst walking in the area. The residents lounge was the most welcome sight after a days hill walking, relaxing with a pint in front of the fire prior to a snooze was just excellent. The drying room was a real benefit as it rained every day of our stay and some guidance on local walks from... More

We have just returned from a few days at The Three Shires Inn. We had an excellent stay. Cosy rooms that one would expect at an Inn. Every comfort , helpful staff, good food and great atmosphere. Weather was pretty good too! We will return

Stopped off for a quick lunch time pint & bite to eat. Traditional Lakeland slate stone fronted place. As the title it was a wet October half term day & there where lots of families in the bar & the place did smell a little fusty. Bar staff not the happiest in the world, but the ale ( can't remember... More

Stayed en-route back to London from a family celebration and wanted to experience the beautiful Lake District again. The Three Shires could not have been a better ideal location and the bonus was the weather - beautiful! All the staff were so friendly and obliging and the restaurant / menu was great. Our room was perfectly adequate and cosy with... More

First visit to the Three Shires for a few years, this time for lunch (party of ten) midway through a long walk. Location is fantastic –in a small village in the heart of Lakeland. Welcoming staff, log burning stove, good selection of local ales (nice to see various different breweries represented). Food was also excellent – lunch menu isn’t particularly... More

Stayed in Little Langdale this last week and have eaten here 3 times and been in every day for a pint after walking and have to say it was very good. Ate on Friday as arriving had steak from the special board and cheese and biscuits all of which were good. Ate again Monday when I had steak and ale... More

Visited as a family of 4, booked in advance, great experience. Appeared to be family operated, very punctual food service, terrific food for all our orders. Quite varied menu choices but all individually interesting. Definitely recommended, we will be visiting again in the future.
