We called at the pub for lunch after a short walk to see the caves. We had sausage sandwiches on ciabatta bread. We also ordered chips which I must say were the best I have had in a longtime. Both the food and service was excellent and we will defiantly be back.

Really enjoyed our family cream team (fluffy scones, strawberry jam and cream) here today. Promptly served by a friendly lady. We only had fruit juice/coffees and cream teas but bar looked well stocked and was a really good atmosphere. Might have to return with all the whiskies they have! They also do accommodation and I've every reason to believe this... More

I have just spent two nights at the Three Shires Inn, my room was very comfortable, nice and quiet, with a nice size bathroom. I had Dinner in the restaurant both evenings, and enjoyed the food very much, the service was also very good. I would not hesitate the return to The Three Shires, in fact myself and 5 other... More

Lovely place, a few miles outside of bustling Ambleside but you'd never know as tranquillity, scenery, mountains, lakes and rivers are minutes away. We've stayed many times and it's got everything we want for a weekend in the Lakes. A relaxing bar with a huge number of ales and whisky's, but in good weather (or bad if you want) there's... More

This is a superb place for a pint after a good walk...food is also good. Highly recommend their lamb dish, although this was not on the menu in August...hope it's back again in the autumn. Friendly staff and owners...another review comments on the lack of understanding but the overseas staff; in my view, they are friendly, competent and incredible with... More

Stopped for lunch before continuing our trip but wasn't too impressed. It took two members of staff to understand that we wanted 3 soups - 1 with gluten free bread - I ham sandwich and one steak burger. How hard is that to understand. We found the soup to be too rich with too much cream in it. The food... More

We have stayed here so many times! It is always nice and relaxing. The food is excellent. Unfortunately in our most recent stay (July - mid summer?) it was cold, so we had to ask for the heating to be put on. The accommodation is reasonably priced, the food is always good. The fabric of the building has always been... More

Stayed here for a few nights in July 2015. Very pleasant little B&B in an idyllic setting. We had room 2 which was a "cosy" twin with marvellous views. Very clean, with clean towels every day. Walls are a little thin, and we didn't appreciate our neighbour's breakfast television coming loudly through the wall when we were having a last... More

Had heard good things. Was disappointed. Yes, the room was clean and upheld by housekeeping each day. Hotel gaudily decorated and the walls were paper thin so I could hear a bloke on FaceTime, watching television, on the loo etc. which was unpleasant to say the least. The room was very cold so it was uncomfortable unless you were in... More
