our first night in Little Langdale stayinng at a large spacious cottage just down the road we decided to visit the three shires for a meal. The lady at the bar that evening was not terribly friendly as she told us they were fully booked for a meal and did not give us any recommendations on where else we could... More

Had a great activity weekend with seven friends based at the Three Shires. It was perfect in every way! Comfy beds, good service, excellent packed lunches, great breakfasts and divine dinner. First time we have stayed in this beautiful valley and will definately be back.

Third return visit, popular with walkers, cyclists runners and explorers of all ages. Great meals from hearty breakfasts for walkers (best kippers for ages) bar lunches and dinners . Table d'hôtel very good value if doing dinner, B&B. A la carte also lovely dishes. Great beers and good wine list. But the thing that stands out is the full and... More

Had a short, but very nice stay here. The staff were very friendly and we had a nice meal in the bar. Food was nice, but for the price, not spectacular. Breakfast good though. Room was a good size and well furnished. But, it was noisey! The toilet system/pump made unusual sounds and we could hear everyone moving around the... More

We have now stayed in The Three shires inn on a number of occassions, and each time we have stayed there we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a well run family B&B with great quality food and with an excellent choice of local ales. Very nice friendly people with a friendly atmosphere. We havent been back to the... More

Clearly, being in the middle of no where most probably boasts walkers as major clientele. My advice, take a picnic instead! The place looks really nice on the outside but goes downhill from there! The atmosphere in the pub was strange to say the least, the staff were clearly undertrained in serving drinks and unable to crack a smile! How... More

We (2 adults and 2 children aged 15 and 11) arrived and, from the start, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We took a lovely walk around for an hour or two before dinner. The rooms were cosy, clean, and welcoming. We ate in their restaurant that night and it was absolutely delicious! Better than any restaurant we... More

We stayed here for three nights while ticking off a few more Wainwrights in the south of the Lake District. We arrived in the middle of a heat wave so those first couple of drinks sitting in the garden were so welcome .... And things got even better once we checked on. Our room was cool and welcoming and the... More

Excellent food and service. We arrived with our two young (6 & 7 years old) near to closing time to a fairly busy restaurant after a day in the hills and the staff did not bat an eyelid in our walking attire. Food was delicious and plenty of it - we actually decided to split the children's portion and pleased... More

I have twice in the last few months had an evening meal here with friends. Although the food was quite good I was most disappointed with the actual amount we were served with. The sausage and 10 chips I had cost me £13.99 which I feel is outrageously expensive. My friends were all served small portions at a similar price... More
