We stayed at the Queens Head on Easter Sunday night. Although it was a last minute booking and we arrived after 9pm, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We ate at the restaurant and even though we were the last table to order the food was fantastic. To still achieve that standard after... more

We were really disappointed with our meal at the Queens Head. We had booked the table a few weeks in advance and got a table near the toilets/kitchen. My meal was nice but my partner ordered a £25 steak. This steak arrived absolutely tiny. When we complained the manager wasnt very apologetic and offered no compensation. even though he acknowledged... more

This is a lovely little country inn in a beautiful part of the Lake District. We have been visiting this place for a number of years (starting with our honeymoon in 1998) and recently returned for a weekend. The inn has apparently been bought out by a brewery and we could not help noticing that it is not as good... more

A beautiful location and picturesque building are the first thing you notice - then it goes steadily downhill from there. The four poster rooms are small with a bog standard freeview TV and little else. The bed itself (much like the hotel) looks nice but lacks the comfort(s) that make you think - mmm what a gorgeous place to stay.... more

Arranged for my husbands 40th birthday with 8 friends at this hotel. The setting, ambience, rooms and staff were fabulous. The bar and restaurant is cosy, traditional and was welcoming after a days walking. The service from our designated waiter was fantastic. more

I booked this hotel more out of necessity than anything else. My girlfriend and I needed somewhere to stay whilst up in the Windermere area for the Great North Swim and it seemed like every other hotel or guesthouse within a mile of Windermere's eastern side was fully booked. This place was a little bit more expensive than I would... more

Loved the room which was a small reet grand twin. Lots of lovely touches including a teddy bear , dominos, cards and real shortbread from a local bakery. Staff were really friendly and very willing to help. We had omitted to book a table for an evening meal but they did all they could to accomodate us, despite being very busy.... more

We booked the Queens Head for our anniversary weekend for 2 nights (15-17th August), as our usual haunt was fully booked. I was a bit skeptical at first, as there are mixed reviews on here, but so glad we went for it. It is in a fantastic location with stunning views of the fells and hills opposite. It is also... more

We have just returned from the Queens Head at Troutbeck. We booked a 3 night stay to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. This is a traditional Lake District pub but with a modern flavour. We booked a "Reet Grand" room which was room 3; this occupies the two windows directly above the front door. The room was large, clean and... more

Just returned from a 2night break to celebrate a birthday. We had a lovely peaceful break apart from the thunder storm and a couple of noisy peacocks! Stayed in one of the La'al rooms and found it perfectly adequate for a short stay,it was clean, the bed was comfy and everything supplied in bathroom. The hotel staff maybe young but they are... more
